The teaser video for the week of July 21, 2025, on “Days of Our Lives” shows Doug Williams III saying goodbye to Julie. Soap Opera Digest has since confirmed that Peyton Meyer has indeed exited the soap.
The young character first appeared in Salem in late 2024, following the death of his grandfather, Doug. Since Days tapes about eight months in advance, that means Peyton wrapped up filming around the same time his character first appeared on television screens as Doug.
Doug III Was Trouble From the Minute He Arrived in Town
Doug’s long-term future on “Days of Our Lives” had always seemed somewhat uncertain. By the spring of 2025, social media was already speculating whether the character’s exit could be imminent. When Doug was brazen enough to steal Alice Horton’s necklace from Julie, it was clear that he would eventually have to pay dearly. You can’t steal a core family heirloom and come back from that.
Once Julie realized that her grandson had stolen her grandmother’s necklace, she was enraged. For the last few months, fans of the soap have watched as Julie seethed at the sight of her grandson.
Doug’s Debt Caused Ari and Holly’s Abduction
Doug was already in more than enough trouble, and then his loan shark came calling, again. As Doug tried to keep him at bay, Richie decided that he needed to take action. He no longer trusted Doug’s assurances, and instead, he took out an insurance policy and kidnapped Holly and Ari.
If Doug wanted to see his friends again, then he was going to have to pay up. Luckily, Tate figured out where the girls were and was able to rescue them. Once Doug took stock of everything, he decided that it was the end of the road for him.
Doug will say his goodbyes on Friday, July 25.
When Days posted their latest preview clip, it included a snippet of Doug saying farewell to Julie before leaving town, and the fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts. You can check out the video below.
“I’m sad to see Doug go,” said one fan. “Awww why is Doug leaving. I would of loved him with Holly. He just came on the show. Terrible,” said another.
Still another said, “Lowkey feels like Doug JR Character was kind of pointless. idk why.”
