SWAT Season 7: Final Episodes’ “Surprises” & Team “Friction” Teased By Shemar Moore

S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore teases what to expect in the upcoming final episodes of the procedural action series, including some “surprises” for the team. The show was previously canceled by CBS in May 2023, but the decision was quickly reversed to give the series a proper conclusion. Its final season will be a shortened 13 episodes, giving its characters and storylines a final sendoff.

Speaking with TV InsiderMoore teased what viewers can expect from S.W.A.T season 7, hinting at some surprises in store. The series lead said there will be plenty of unexpected moments, but believes the show concludes fittingly. Check out what Moore had to say below:

[W]e’re going out guns blazing. There are a lot of surprises. It’s not a squeaky-clean season. What I mean is SWAT’s going to be tested, which I think is interesting. There’s going to be friction. SWAT’s going to be challenged to whether or not they can save the day or not. But again, there are going to be some surprises, things that the fans are not expecting, which I think just makes for juicy TV. But by the time we get to 13, I know SWAT will stand triumphant, and if that’s goodbye, then we walk off into the sunset proud.

Everything To Expect In SWAT Season 7

It’s currently unclear what surprising events will happen in season 7, other than offering conclusions to the show’s many characters. Given how previous seasons of the show have shaped up, the final episodes will likely be a mixture of weekly cases coupled with character storylines being driven forward. This includes the aftermath of the team’s encounter with the Zamora Cartel at the end of season 6, as well as the unexpected ways their lives will change as the show continues.

S.W.A.T. may also surprise viewers with cameo appearances from characters no longer on the show, such as Lina Esco’s character Chris Alonso, who left after season 5. While no shocking cameos are confirmed as of writing, Moore highlighting “surprises” indicates there could be some returnees making appearances in the last episodes. If so, this would help bring the series full circle, offering a proper finale to the regular characters in the series.

DeShae Frost’s Darryl Henderson has been a fan-favorite in SWAT, but he hasn’t been in the show for quite a while now. Here’s what happened to him.

However, it seems the primary focus of S.W.A.T. season 7 will be ending the stories of its existing main cast, providing a proper level of finality to the show. Since Moore has teased just how high-quality an ending the series will be receiving, it will no doubt be a memorable finale to the popular drama. The extent of the series’ successful conclusion will be unveiled as the final episodes begin.
