The rumors are not true. After 52 years in Salem, Suzanne Rogers is not ready to leave “Days of Our Lives,” or her beloved character, Maggie, behind. The idea first ignited on Facebook and then spread through other social media platforms, leaving fans to fear that the actress was ready to retire.
Thankfully, a Days representative confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that the rumors “could not be further from the truth. Maggie and Suzanne are integral to the show’s history, present storylines, and now, on the heels of our pick-up, the future! Neither are going anywhere.”
Suzanne Rogers Is Not Exiting the Role of Maggie
Suzanne Rogers is a Daytime Emmy-winning actress who first began playing the role of Maggie Simmons Horton Kiriakis back in 1973, and her only exit was for a few months in 2002-2004. Since it was recently announced that Peacock has renewed the series for two more seasons, fans can expect to see Maggie getting plenty of screen time.
Maggie will continue to help Sarah get through the fallout of her marriage to Xander and the custody battle that they are currently navigating over their baby girl, Victoria. Sources also indicate that Maggie will be tangled up in the power struggle between the Kiriakis and DiMeras, and she will remain a crucial support to her granddaughter, Holly.
As a legacy character, she will also figure prominently in “Days of Our Lives” 60th anniversary which is slated to begin airing in November 2025.
Suzanne’s Role on Days Has Been Celebrated
The role of Maggie Horton has brought a great deal of success to Suzanne Rogers’ career. She won her first Daytime Emmy in 1979 as Outstanding Supporting Actress, making her the first cast member of Days to win an Emmy. The actress was also honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and inducted into its Gold Circle.
In August of 2023, Rogers celebrated her 50th anniversary of her debut on “Days of Our Lives.” At the time, she told Soap Opera Digest, “I’m kind of shocked that I’ve been on the show for 50 years; I mean, how many people can say that? I guess it’s a testament to the fact that the show wanted to keep me around, and the audience liked the character. And I still love what I’m doing, so it’s all a win.”
