Adriyan Rae is officially a mom! The Chicago Fire alum, who starred as Gianna Mackey in Season 9, quietly welcomed her first child earlier this year.
Rae announced her pregnancy and the birth of her baby in a February 2024 Instagram post. “I quietly journeyed the most profound calling I’ve ever experienced, I can truly say the title of mother is my favorite by far. Im both blessed and honored to be chosen as an earthside guide,” she wrote alongside several photos from a maternity shoot. “To my beloved, you are my reason, my heart, and my greatest blessing. And I will spend a lifetime showing you that, providing guidance, and honoring your choice of me as your mother with every ounce of me. Love you always, – Mommy.”
In the comments section, the new mom clarified that she had already welcomed her child, writing: “Disclaimer: When I said I quietly journeyED I meant that lol! My bundle of love’s already earthside and we are doing well. Thank you for the immense amount of love, prayers, and beautiful energy 🥰🤗✨💛.”
In a handful of the shots, the actress wore a gold gown and a gold headpiece as she cradled her baby bump. In another photo, Rae was nude and covered in sparkly gold body paint. The carousel post ended with a video clip of her lounging in a pool. “Secret’s out,” she told the camera.
A few months later, Rae opened up about her postpartum experience. “POV you’re 3.5 months postpartum. You’re healthy, healing, & growing. Your hair is thriving, you feel good in your body, safe with your tribe, and you’re radiating goddess energy,” she captioned several photos of herself. “I love this life of mine. Just popping in to say hi folks & alls good over this way. Love y’all! with love | with light | -A.Rae.”
She has yet to share photos of her baby, nor has she revealed the sex or name. It is also unclear who the child’s father is.
Rae joined the cast of NBC’s Chicago Fire in Season 9 as Gianna Mackey, a paramedic on Ambulance 61 and a close friend of Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso). Fans were shocked when Rae announced her departure from the series after just one season in March 2021. The actress never shared the specific reason for her exit, though Derek Haas, the showrunner at the time, revealed that it had to with her personal life. “Adriyan let us know she had some private reasons to leave Chicago,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “To hear that as a showrunner, you absolutely respect what an actor needs. All I can say is we love her and I know she’s going to be great on some other series. And she left 51 on great terms, so there’s a chance we could check in on her. We’re always looking for something to boost up a crossover! I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Mackey in Firehouse 51.”
Unfortunately, Rae has yet to reprise her role as Mackey, who transferred to another firehouse that had more opportunities for advancement. “Chicago Fire, though it’s coming to an unexpected end, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. I have learned sooo many valuable lessons, gone through acting Olympics and come out stronger, and most importantly, met & made so many amazing friends,” she captioned photos of her and Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter, at the time of her exit. She added: “I ask that you extend to me the same grace, space, and understanding you’d want in any transitional time, and realize that while it is sad, some things are really only meant for a season and that’s okay.”
Since leaving the show, the mother of one has remained busy. She starred in both seasons of the Paramount+ revival of The Game as Brittany Pitts and just recently booked a lead role in the upcoming Netflix series Forever, a reimagination of the 1975 novel of the same name by Judy Blume. “When I tell you gratitude filled my ENTIRE body when I got this call!!! Its an honor to get to work with all these phenomenal beings on such a brilliant story!” she wrote in an April 2024 Instagram post. Thank you @marabrockakil @iamreginaking @netflix to and everyone involved for trusting me with Brittany. It’s UP! 🔥🤭🤞🏽.”
