Ahead of Chicago Fire season 13’s return, a new One Chicago promo video shows Stella Kidd leading Firehouse 51 on the heels of Chief Wallace Boden’s exit. NBC’s Wednesday primetime block is returning with a full season following a shortened run during 2023-2024. That’s exciting for Chicago PD season 12 and Chicago Med season 10, but it’s particularly intriguing for Chicago Fire season 13 because of the slew of changes coming Firehouse 51’s way. Arguably, the biggest difference is the team getting a new Battalion Chief with Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal.
In a new One Chicago video on Instagram, however, Miranda Mayo’s Kidd is the one leading Firehouse 51 for its Chicago Fire season 13 segment. Check out the video below:
The short clip starts with Kidd leading Firehouse 51, followed by Hank Voight spearheading Intelligence for Chicago PD season 12, and Maggie Lockwood paving Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s way for Chicago Med season 10. Unfortunately, the One Chicago promotional video doesn’t include any new footage from the upcoming year despite production already in full swing.
Will Kidd Be The New Face Of Chicago Fire Season 13?
Kidd & Boden Have A Close Relationship Both Personally & Professionally
Boden’s departure in the Chicago Fire season 12 finale was the fourth exit from the show in the same year. Prior to his promotion that forced him out of Firehouse 51, Blake Gallo, Sylvie Brett, as well as newcomer Derrick Gibson already left the show. Still, losing Boden is arguably the most impactful when it comes to the future of the first-responder procedural. Not only was Boden an original character, but Eammon Walker was also the very first actor cast for One Chicago. Couple that with what he meant to Firehouse 51, it’ll be virtually impossible to replace him.
Mulroney’s Pascal may be taking over his official role in Firehouse 51, but if the aforementioned video is any indication, Kidd may ultimately step into his place as the face of Chicago Fire in season 13. Interestingly, this makes sense. One may assume that Kelly Severide may be a better fit to be the show’s new lead character. That said, considering persistent rumors that Taylor Kinney is planning to leave One Chicago, the franchise may be playing it safe in terms of who they are going to market as the new representative of Chicago Fire in case the actor leaves.
The narrative also positions Kidd as Boden’s best successor as a representative of Chicago Fire in Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise. Despite not being an original character, she developed a close bond with the former Firehouse 51 leader. Boden even walked her down the aisle — proof that their strong relationship goes beyond being just co-workers.
