Station 19 Episode 7×01: Explosive Drama, Heartfelt Moments & Shocking Twists!

Welcome to the first episode of the final season of Station 19. On one hand, it’s very sad to think about the series coming to an end, but on the other, we finally have Maya and Carina back , and we’ve missed them so much!

The first episode of the seventh season opens with the aftermath of last season’s finale. Jack is undergoing surgery in the hospital, and it’s unclear if he’ll survive, so Andy can’t even rejoice at being the new boss. Ross and Sullivan’s romance is now public, and they don’t know if she’ll be fired for having an affair with a subordinate. Vic and Theo are dealing with their breakup… Anyway, things aren’t looking great all around.

Carina is in the hospital with the little boy whose life she managed to save by performing a C-section on his mother who was in cardiac arrest. The baby is fine, but of course, he doesn’t have a mom or a dad, so the Italian doctor can’t help but feel terrible, because he still hasn’t realized he’s alone in this world.

Maya approaches, and the brunette tells her she feels like none of this is fair. That the floor just collapsed, and there are people who died and others who are still there, but nothing makes sense.

Carina: But this has cleared some things up for me.
Maya: About what?
Carina: About us.
Maya: Were you not clear about us?
Carina: I know I said I could and I thought I could, but I can’t keep living in your apartment. There are too many painful memories there. So I thought, why don’t we start fresh? In a house. I’m starting artificial insemination soon, and I want a place where we can create a new life for both of us and our family. Where I can have a garden and plant oregano, basil, and rosemary.
Maya: With space for me to exercise!
Carina: And a big table, so we can invite our friends over when the weather is nice.

Maya: Our house.
Carina: Our home.
Maya: I’m in.

It seems Carina’s salary is high, because I don’t know if with Maya’s firefighter salary they could buy a house and get artificial insemination at the same time. But this is Station 19, so I believe it, and so do you. Go on, everyone, be happy!

The next time we see Maya, she’s in the room where Jack is talking to Herrera. Maya tries to give her advice, telling her she knows she’s having a hard time, but she’s the boss now and can’t appear weak in front of others. Unfortunately, she’s a woman, and that works against her. She has to shell out money and publicly present a cold-hearted front. She also tells her she’s there to support her in whatever she needs to talk about.

Carina, for her part, runs into the chef who worked with the baby’s mother. He’s there because he’s decided to adopt the child. He feels it’s his responsibility because he’s worked with her for many years, and it saddens him that the baby is going to be with someone who doesn’t know him. He could at least tell her about her.

The doctor is thrilled with this idea because she was really sorry for the baby. He also seems like a very nice person. In fact, she tells him she’s going to name the baby Liam because that was the name she had for the little one. She decided to give him that name because it was the name of her favorite One Direction member.

On another side of the city, Maya is trying to save a woman from dying in an explosion. So she has to climb onto the building and strap her into a harness to lower her down. Fortunately, everything goes well, and both the two of them, along with Vic, who was also trapped, are out of trouble.

The next time we see the girls, Carina is taking Maya to visit the baby and telling her about the adoption. But when they get to the crib, they find the chef staring at the little one and crying. He tells them he’s sorry, but he can’t do it. He’s already filled out all the paperwork, but he doesn’t know what he was thinking.

Maya tries to calm him down by telling him that she knows it’s scary, but he’s already made a decision: he never wanted a baby and he felt responsible for his friend, but he just can’t handle that responsibility.

Carina is devastated looking at and caressing the baby and then Maya’s light bulb goes on.

Maya: We can.
Carina: Really?
Maya: We’re going to be their moms. It doesn’t mean we can’t also get pregnant. We’re the perfect candidates to be emergency foster mothers. I’m a paramedic, you’re a doctor.
Carina: Are you sure?
Maya: Yes.

Carina: Hello, Little Liam, I’m Carina and this is Maya. We’d love to be your moms.

And so ends the episode for our girls, with Maya and Carina having the baby they’ve been wanting for so long. Welcome home, Liam! See you next week for the next episode of Station 19.
