Star Wars Theory Finally Reveals The Tragic Fate Of Ahsoka’s Jedi Rival
One Star Wars theory reveals that Ahsoka Tano’s Jedi rival during her time with the Jedi Order may have suffered an undeniably tragic fate.
A new Star Wars theory reveals the fate of Ahsoka Tano’s Jedi rival, Barriss Offee. When Ahsoka was still Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan and a member of the Jedi Order, she became friends with another Padawan, Barriss Offee, a young Mirialan who was being taught by Master Luminara Unduli. As depicted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka and Barriss, like all Jedi, were forced to fight in the Clone Wars, leading the clone troopers as Commanders. They were given a lot of responsibilities and faced numerous dangerous missions together, but it made them both stronger as Jedi and as people.
Eventually, though, Ahsoka and Barriss’ ideologies began to diverge. Barriss became disillusioned with the Jedi’s role in the conflict – she believed that the Order had compromised its integrity and its beliefs, and she became especially suspicious of the Jedi Council. In the end, Barriss framed Ahsoka for a terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple. Though Ahsoka was eventually acquitted, she left the Jedi Order and never looked back. Barriss’ fate after the fall of the Jedi is currently unknown, however, but one Star Wars show may yet reveal the tragic truth.
Palpatine’s Experiments Require Midi-Chlorians From A Source

Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 acts as a bridge between Star Wars’ post-Clone Wars era and the Star Wars sequel trilogy. More specifically, it focuses on Palpatine’s cloning projects and the means of his resurrection, otherwise known as Project Necromancer. At the time of The Bad Batch, which takes place shortly after the end of The Clone Wars, Project Necromancer is still in its infancy – the Empire’s Advanced Science Division, led by Dr. Hemlock, is searching for a way to stabilize and transfer midi-chlorians from a source into a clone so that the clone may utilize the power of the Force.
First introduced in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, midi-chlorians are microscopic organisms present in every living thing in the galaxy. The Force flows through these organisms. The higher a subject’s midi-chlorian count, or m-count, the more Force-sensitive they are deemed to be. Anakin Skywalker, for instance, had the highest recorded m-count in galactic history. These midi-chlorians have to come from a source, however. Force-users such as Jedi would be viable test subjects, but in the aftermath of Order 66, there weren’t many left – and those who were left went on the run. One ex-Jedi is still unaccounted for, though: Barriss Offee.
Star Wars Brings Back Midi-Chlorians And Makes Them Essential To Disney-Era Canon
George Lucas’ idea for midi-chlorians demystified the Force, but recent Star Wars projects have begun repairing the mystery behind the Force.
Ahsoka’s Rival, Barriss Offee, Was Last Seen As A Prisoner
Barriss Offee eventually confessed to framing Ahsoka for murder and bombing the Jedi Temple. Her actions were extreme, violent, and desperate, but she wanted the Jedi Council to know that she believed they were responsible for the war and that their actions were more akin to the Sith’s ideals than the Jedi’s. Obviously, her violence was hypocritical, but she was proven right in due course. Once she confessed, Barriss was imprisoned by the Jedi. That was the last time she was seen in Star Wars’ storytelling. So, what happened to her? What happened to any of the prisoners after the fall of the Jedi Order?
To learn more about Barriss Offee’s dark turn and Ahsoka’s departure from the Jedi Order, watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 5, episodes 17-20.
Is Palpatine Using Barriss Offee For Midi-Chlorians?
Palaptine and Project Necromancer With Hemlock and Nala Se
Dr. Hemlock is in need of midi-chlorian-rich test subjects for Project Necromancer, and it’s unlikely the Emperor would be immediately be willing to waste those who serve him, like the Inquisitors – many of whom were former Jedi – for such dangerous and unpredictable experiments. So, who might they turn to instead? As pointed out by X user @StarWarsSarBear, Barriss Offee could be a viable test subject for Project Necromancer. Perhaps, before the Empire captured The Mandalorian’s Grogu, Barriss Offee was their most accessible source of midi-chlorians. After all, who better to sacrifice for such exploits than an imprisoned ex-Jedi?
Project Necromancer made a massive leap in The Bad Batch season 3 premiere. Dr. Hemlock is getting closer to being able to successfully transfer midi-chlorians between subjects. They’ll need midi-chlorian sources more than ever now, and Barriss Offee is a likely candidate. Though what she did to Ahsoka was deplorable, it’s hard to imagine she deserves a fate like this.
