If there’s one person that many Star Wars fans love, it is Han Solo because he had one of the best character developments in the storyline. Of course, he carries the swagger and charisma that some of the other main characters simply don’t have. While we know that Luke and Leia are sensitive to the Force because they were the children of the Chosen One, Han is one of the best gunslingers in the storyline. But was Han Solo actually Force-sensitive?
Han Solo was never confirmed to be Force-sensitive. Still, fans were quick to point out the possibility that he might be sensitive to the Force because he has done things that are seemingly impossible for an ordinary man. And probably the only reason he doesn’t use the Force is that he doesn’t believe in it.
The thing about Han is that he was never the most spiritual or superstitious guy in Star Wars, as he only believed in the things that he could see. That is probably why he was never the guy that anyone would think could be sensitive to the Force. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t sensitive to the Force. Now, let’s look at the arguments regarding Han Solo’s possible Force-sensitivity.
Han Does Things That Are Impossible
Ever since Han Solo was introduced as a Star Wars character, he was the resident bad boy of the group and was the one that did things that were morally gray but were important to his survival. Of course, he eventually became a good guy that worked for the Rebels to bring the Empire down. And throughout his time as a character, he did seemingly impossible things for most other “normal” Star Wars characters.

In that regard, some fans were quick to speculate that Han could actually be sensitive to the Force as he did things that others wouldn’t dare to do. On top of that, he also had pretty good fighting skills for a man that spent almost his entire life as a smuggler. So, with that said, let’s look at the reasons why Han Solo might be Force-sensitive.
He’s an Impossibly Good Pilot
If there’s one thing that we know about Han Solo, it’s that he is an incredibly good pilot capable of doing impossible stunts that only the Jedi have been able to pull off. He did many things that allowed him to make a name for himself as one of the best pilots in the Star Wars universe, including flying through an asteroid field and attaching the Millennium Falcon to a Star Destroyer to hide from its radar. And he even made a name for himself by being able to make the Kessel Run in just 12 parsecs.

Of course, we’ve seen a lot of great pilots in the world of Star Wars, and most of them were Jedi. For instance, both Anakin Skywalker and Plo Koon were considered the two best pilots of the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars. They were great pilots because they had the Force to guide them. As such, it might be possible that Han subconsciously used the Force while piloting the Falcon.
He’s Impossibly Lucky
There’s also the fact that Han Solo has always been the luckiest man in the entire Star Wars universe because almost everything goes his way. He was not shy about taking risks because he knew he was a lucky man who almost always found himself on the good end of a draw. And he has defied the odds numerous times throughout his history as a character.
The thing about luck is that it isn’t always just pure luck in the Star Wars universe. In some cases, the Force guides the events and decisions of a person to make it look like he was lucky. That was the case for Anakin in the Clone Wars, as he was almost always lucky despite his recklessness. The same could be true for Han, as his luck may have always been fueled by the guiding hand of the Force.
He Can Talk to Other Species
Of course, one of the things that we saw in Star Wars was that it was seemingly easy for Han to talk to other species that have different ways of speaking and weren’t exactly mumbling words. He was one of the few people that could easily understand Chewbacca. And he was also capable of understanding Greedo, Jabba, and any other alien species he encountered.
We know that the Jedi can communicate with other species through the Force as they can form telepathic connections with them. As such, it is possible that Han Solo was subconsciously using the Force to connect with other species and talk to them like it was a normal day. But we can also say that Han’s experience as a smuggler has allowed him to learn how to talk to different species. Still, it would be nice if his ability to communicate with other species was due to him using the Force subconsciously.
Han Was Never Confirmed to Be Force-Sensitive
But while there are some instances wherein Han Solo seems to be sensitive to the Force as he is a lucky man with great shooting skills and above-average fighting abilities, the one thing that we know is that there was never a point in the storyline wherein he was said to be Force-sensitive. He was always regarded as the skeptic wanting to believe more in what he sees and understands instead of an entity he cannot see or feel. As he once said, “I’ve gone from one end of the galaxy to the other, and I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe that there’s some all-powerful force controlling everything. There’s no force controlling my destiny, that’s for sure.”
Of course, the fact that Han Solo is skeptical is probably why he was never able to consciously use the Force. It is possible that his luck, fighting abilities, and piloting skills were due to him using the Force subconsciously. But because he was always skeptical about the Force and was always doubtful about whether or not such a thing truly existed, he might have disconnected himself from the Force and could not use it consciously.
Then again, there’s always the fact that the Force lives in almost all the galaxy’s living creatures. That means that the Force is the guiding hand that allows the different events of the galaxy to progress. As such, even if Han Solo was never Force-sensitive, his actions and destiny were still guided by the Force, especially because this invisible supernatural entity exists everywhere in the universe. It’s just that those who are sensitive to it are capable of sensing and using it.
