But as far as the official canon is concerned, there is no in-universe meaning behind the color of a Jedi’s lightsaber because of the fact that the Jedi are known to have saber colors that tend to be random, except for the Temple Guards, who all use yellow lightsabers.
Whenever they acquire the Kyber crystals that they use to construct their sabers, Jedi have little to no control over the color of their sabers. There are some exceptions, especially when examining how Anakin could tinker with Ahsoka’s sabers to turn them blue. But the fact is that the color of a Jedi’s lightsaber doesn’t mean a thing, as this is only the color that the Kyber crystal emits. As such, the indigo lightsaber color doesn’t mean a thing.

Indigo also represents someone who is spiritual and has an inner awareness of their spirituality. And that means that a person who associates themselves with the color indigo is known to be very faithful and idealistic and is capable of deep focus during meditation.
Those who love indigo are known to value religious rituals and anything spiritual in nature. And despite the dark nature of the color indigo, it is anything but dark, as it is known to be associated with spirituality.
In that regard, the things that the color indigo represents are those that the Jedi are known for. That’s because the Jedi Order has always been a very spiritual group of people that value the importance of being mindful of the Force and connecting with this spiritual and supernatural existence due to how it is the very thing that connects everything in the universe with one another.

The Jedi are known for valuing wisdom and intuition as they are often called to meditate deeply so that they can get a better understanding of the Force. They are also taught to trust what the Force says and focus more on intuition than emotions. As such, indigo is a color that perfectly represents some of the most important aspects that the Jedi are known for.
So, while indigo may be one of the darkest lightsaber colors introduced in the Star Wars canon, it represents the spiritual side of the Jedi Order and is anything but dark. As such, it is one of the many lightsaber colors embody the tenets of the Jedi values.
Who Uses the Indigo Lightsaber?
Even though there have been a lot of different Jedi in the Legends storyline that use different lightsaber colors, the thing is that the indigo lightsaber color was never used in the Legends side of Star Wars and was only introduced in the canon storyline of the lore. It was first introduced in the canon video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and was carried over to its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
As such, the only person in the Star Wars canon to ever use the indigo lightsaber color is the protagonist of the Star Wars Jedi video game series, Cal Kestis. Of course, those who have played the Star Wars Jedi games would know that Cal’s lightsaber can be tinkered with and customized. This means that the color emitted by the crystal can be changed depending on the player’s preferences.

That means that while Cal is the only Jedi to ever use the indigo lightsaber color, it isn’t the only color he uses in canon. However, even though Cal can also use other lightsaber colors, his character fits the meaning of the indigo color because he is a very spiritual man that values intuition and wisdom instead of his emotions. Cal often meditates in the game to stay connected to the Force, and that’s why the color indigo is one of the many different lightsaber colors that fits his character and personality well.
