RELATED: Justin Hartley’s Tracker Helps CBS Score 16th Consecutive Season at No. 1 on Nielsen’s Broadcast Ratings Season 1 of the hit CBS drama ended Sunday night, but Season 2 will premiere this fall. And Pernas, who joined Tracker as Billie in the first season, will reprise her role. When asked about the experience of working with his wife and what it was like, Hartley told Deadline: She hated it. [Laughs]. No, we had a great time together. I just thought it would be a really great idea. It was my idea from the beginning to have that character that you just mentioned appear. I think in the second episode, there’s a big reward for a car… there’s a line where one of the women says, ‘Word on the street is Billie’s working on the case.’
If you’re really paying attention, you’re like, ‘Oh, he’s got a rival, this Billie guy.’ He continued: So my idea was to tease that and deliberately name the character Billie, and then reveal that Billie, of course, is Sofia. We didn’t tease that as much as I wanted to, just because we were so busy. But that was the intention. Then when she appeared, to be honest with you, I’m not sure how much of the character aspect that she brought was actually written. I think you’re just watching a talented actor. There are a few things that we have the benefit of discussing privately that you don’t normally have time to do. But when you live with that person, you can talk about it over dinner and say, ‘Hey, what about this?’ So we really have the opportunity to have that dialogue.
Hartley teased what fans can expect in Season 2, saying: She’s definitely coming back. We have some pretty exciting stuff for her to do next year. She’s coming back multiple times next year. We have plans to bring my whole family back… We have a lot of questions to answer with Colter’s mom. Jennifer Morrison gave this really great performance. I think we would be remiss if we didn’t bring her back. We’ve built a really great group of actors [who] hopefully will be more willing than willing to come back, because we’d love to do more with them. We have so many stories to tell all of [them].
