World tennis No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, will also be at the iconic Palacio de Cibeles, where the Awards are being hosted for the second consecutive year, joining Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam winner and five-time Laureus World Sportsman of the year who had previously confirmed his attendance.

Duplantis, who broke his own pole vault world record twice last year, is among the nominees for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, along with Four-time tennis Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz. Other Olympic icons due to be present include Nadia Comaneci, who will celebrate the 50th anniversary of her first-ever perfect 10 in gymnastics, six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy, making his first appearance in public since his cancer diagnosis, athletics legend Edwin Moses of the USA (2x Olympic champion), and Morocco’s Olympic champion and IOC member Nawal El Moutawakel.
