Just two episodes remain in the brilliant third season of ABC’s Will Trent, and the stakes feel incredibly high. Following last night’s Episode 16, “Push, Jump, Fall,” which saw Ramón Rodríguez’s titular Trent embroiled in a Western-inspired mystery as he and Faith (Iantha Richardson) attempted to clear an innocent woman’s name and uncover a drug ring, the official promo for the season’s penultimate outing, Episode 17, “Why Hello, Sheriff,” was released and is available to watch in all its glory below.
The promo sees Will come face to face with a law-enforcing foe in the shape of a sheriff, portrayed by Yul Vazquez of Severance fame. Just trying to help solve the mystery of a small town murder, the sheriff is set to make Will’s life a misery in a role that looks set to continue beyond this episode. In fact, thanks to reports of Vazquez’s inclusion in several Will Trent installments and only two in the season remaining, it is fair to suggest the character is likely to reappear in some recurring capacity in the upcoming fourth season, yet to receive a release date. An official synopsis for the episode reads:
“While investigating a murder in a rural town and clashing with the local sheriff, Will uncovers surprising truths about his past; Angie makes an unexpected discovery; Ormewood continues to struggle with his diagnosis.”
‘Will Trent’ Is One of Several Beloved ABC Shows To Receive Renewal Status
When it comes to long-running and inventive procedurals, there might be no better network than ABC. The holders of several of the best shows on network television right now, ABC boasts Will Trent alongside the likes of 9-1-1, Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie, Abbott Elementary, and High Potential, in one neat package that provides many hours of consistent viewing. Back in early April, it was confirmed by ABC that all of the above shows had officially been renewed for the network’s 2025-26 primetime lineup. This will come as no surprise to those in touch with the data, as Will Trent went from underdog status to one of the network’s top performers, with the Season 3 premiere back in January attracting 9.75 million total viewers on ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and other digital platforms. How long can Will Trent last? That remains to be seen, but it sure has all the makings of a series that can withstand the shaky current ground of network TV.
