Shocking New Details About Lance Barber’s Unexpected Return in ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ After His ‘Young Sheldon’ Death – What Fans Didn’t See Coming!

Lance Barber is the latest Young Sheldon actor set to appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The Young Sheldon spin-off has enlisted characters from the show to help enrich Georgie’s (Montana Jordan) world as he begins his life with his family. Co-creator Steve Holland revealed that Barber would appear in a dream sequence since his character died in the prequel series. The network has revealed that Barber will appear in Episode 12, “Typhoid Georgie,” when Georgie stays home after catching a cold. The episode airs on Thursday, February 27, and the official logline below previews the story.

“Georgie worries he’s letting his family down when he’s forced to stay home with a cold, and Mandy worries about how her career will affect her marriage.”

Why ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Is Bringing Back George Sr.

George Cooper Sr., played by Lance Barber, is on the phone in Young Sheldon

Holland previously said the show wouldn’t bring back the characters unless there was a good reason. “If we found the right sort of emotional reason for Georgie, and it didn’t just feel like a stunt — like, here’s George Sr. crawling his way out of the grave — and we treated it respectfully, it would be great to have Lance back on,” he said. In the end-month episode, George appears to his son in a dream to encourage him when the latter thinks he’s letting his father down. Holland explained how this storyline came about, saying:

“His dad visits him in a dream. George is thinking about his dad, and he’s worried that his dad might be disappointed in him…. [The idea] came out of a conversation we’d had with Chuck, even early on, talking about the show. Chuck had said about his own father that he still dreams about him, he still visits him, so that was a thing we had thought about. And then when we were breaking this episode, it just seemed like a great opportunity to bring George back.”

In next week’s episode, “Working for the Enemy,” the McAllister household will experience more conflict. “Audrey’s past rears its head when Georgie leaves the tire store to work for Fred Fagenbacher (Matt Letscher), Jim’s longtime nemesis, and Mandy struggles to keep peace in the house,” reads the official logline. “Typhoid Georgie” airs on CBS on Thursday, February 27. The episode was written by Steven Molaro and Nadiya Chettier, based on a story by Holland and Connor Kilpatrick, and was directed by Mark Cendrowski.
