‘Sheriff Country’: Diane Farr Wants Shania Twain to Play This Person’s Mom in ‘Fire Country’ Spinoff

CBS’s action drama Fire Country has become known for bringing country stars into its cast, and according to series regular Diane Farr, there may be room for Shania Twain to join its spinoff, Sheriff Country.

In a recent conversation with Us Weekly, Farr — who plays Sharon Leone on Fire Country and appeared in two episodes of Sheriff Country — revealed that she and Morena Baccarin, the star of the spinoff, have been tossing around casting ideas.

“I asked Morena just yesterday whether she could picture Shania Twain as her birth mother,” Farr shared. She admitted, though, that the country icon might “be too young” for the part. Twain turned 60 in August, while Baccarin is 46, leaving only a small age gap between the two actresses. Even so, Farr believes the spinoff could benefit from featuring a notable country performer.

“Bringing a country singer into the show in that way could really add something special,” she said, also reflecting on the distinct atmosphere of the setting. “Northern California is so different from Southern California. It has shades of Idaho, Montana — even a little bit of Tennessee. The world just keeps expanding.”

Since premiering in 2022, Fire Country has featured several country artists, among them Jelly Roll and Kane Brown. Max Thieriot, who stars as Bode Donovan/Bode Leone, previously explained to Us Weekly that his unexpected encounter with Jelly Roll at the 2024 CMT Music Awards led to the singer’s guest appearance.

“He was drying his hands in the bathroom when I thanked him for letting us use his music,” Thieriot recalled. “He immediately said, ‘How do I get on the show? I’ve been trying to make it happen!’”

Jelly Roll ultimately appeared in Season 3, Episode 17, portraying Noah, a former inmate working in healthcare. He followed Kane Brown, who made his debut in Season 1 as train hopper Robin.

Thieriot joked that he’s ready to recruit more country musicians, quipping, “Guess I’ll have to stake out the bathroom at the next awards show.” He also said it would be “fun” to bring back both Brown and Jelly Roll in the future.

Fire Country airs Fridays at 9/8c on CBS, followed by Sheriff Country at 8/7c.
