Shemar Moore Hints at Exciting Developments for ‘S.W.A.T.’ Finale and Potential Comeback of Departed Cast Members

Shemar Moore and the cast of S.W.A.T. are in high spirits following the recent announcement of an additional season for the hit series. The 54-year-old actor joined co-stars David Lim, Anna Enger Ritch, Rochelle Aytes, Jay Harrington, and Patrick St. Esprit at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration on May 2 at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

Originally set to conclude after its seventh season, S.W.A.T. has been uncanceled for the second time, much to the delight of its dedicated fanbase.

So, what can viewers look forward to in the season seven finale?

“We were smart,” Shemar told Deadline. “At the tail end of the strike, I gathered with the producers and writers at my house and said, ‘If this is it, let’s go out with a bang. Let’s give them our signature: action, helicopters, chase scenes, motorcycle chases, fight scenes—Hondo sprinting through an alley. Let’s rock them.’”

With only three episodes left to air this season, Shemar emphasized that the finale has been crafted to serve as either a heartfelt farewell or a new beginning for the show. “We literally didn’t change anything in the writing,” he added.

This season has seen the departure of cast members Alex Russell and Kenny Johnson, and Shemar has addressed the possibility of their return. “It’s hard to say goodbye to a bunch of wonderful people. Alex Russell, Kenny Johnson, and a couple of seasons back, we lost Lina Esco. Change is hard; but now we have some OGs, like myself as Hondo, Deacon [Jay Harrington], Hicks [Patrick St. Esprit], and Tan [David Lim], along with some newcomers. But as for those we miss, nobody died. In Hollywood, anything can happen.”

As the excitement builds for the upcoming season and its finale, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for their favorite characters in the action-packed world of S.W.A.T.
