Looking ahead in an interview with Screen Rant, Ashmore revealed to the outlet that there is an upcoming storyline which is set to see Wesley become the focus of the show once more. The actor teased Season 7‘s final scene, a “powerful” upcoming storyline for his character which stems from one of his relationships at the DA’s office. Ashmore’s comments read:
“Yes. I honestly couldn’t tell you what episode it is because shooting 18 episodes, stories start to blend. But there are a few moments that I’m really excited that are great for Wesley, but there’s one episode in particular. I won’t spoil anything, but it has to do with a personal relationship at the DA’s office.“
This Particular ‘The Rookie’ Couple Do Not Have Grey’s Full Approval
While The Rookie Season 7 might not have shone much light on Ashmore’s Wesley so far, it certainly has captured much of Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and Lucy Chen’s (Melissa O’Neil) rocky relationship. Despite not being together, the pair seem pretty content with messing with hot coals, as their steamy Valentine episode showed. It is a trick that the pair conspired to re-enact in the April Fools episode as well. However, while they might be somewhat of a loose canoon at the moment, their superior officer, Lieutenant Grey (Richard T. Jones) is inclined to rein them in. “I think Grey has mixed feelings. He loves both of them,” he says. “He loves Lucy, he loves Tim. He knows that it is a bad idea for two officers to be together, but he also wants them to be happy. So I think he’s caught in that particular thing.”
