Series Finale Twist? FBI: International Might Kill Off Major Character

The work that the FBI agents on FBI: International take on is never without risk, and the dangerous reality of their missions is about to be put front and center in the upcoming installment of one of Dick Wolf’s hit crime dramas. The next new episode is set to air on Monday, April 1, following a rerun of Watson that temporarily took over the show’s time slot the previous week. In this new chapter, one member of the elite Fly Team will find herself in grave danger, with her very life hanging in the balance.

CBS released the official promo for Season 4, Episode 16, “Little Angel,” on March 18, and the chilling preview makes it clear that the case at hand is both urgent and emotional. The Fly Team is tasked with investigating the abduction of an American infant and her mother overseas, a situation that puts immediate pressure on the agents to act quickly before tragedy strikes. “Please find my family,” the devastated father pleads in the trailer, setting the tone for what promises to be an intense and heart-pounding hour of television.

Determined to bring justice, Wes (played by Jesse Lee Soffer, who joined the cast earlier this season) is heard declaring, “Until everybody involved in this is in cuffs, we’re not done.” His words signal the team’s relentless pursuit of answers, but the promo also reveals a shocking turn of events: while deep in the investigation, Smitty (Eva-Jane Willis) is blindsided when an assailant comes up behind her and opens fire. The footage shows her collapsing to the ground, clearly wounded and in pain, raising immediate questions about her fate and whether the Fly Team could be on the verge of losing one of their own.

Adding another layer of complexity to the episode is the reappearance of Ella (Jade Tailor), Wes’ ex-girlfriend, who has been weaving her way back into his life. Viewers saw her reach out in Episode 15, “They May Get Their Wish,” initially under the guise of wanting to discuss a potential buyer for the house she once shared with Wes. However, she also hinted at having sensitive information connected to a case, telling him, “It’s a little tricky, but hear me out, okay?” At the time, Wes encouraged her to take the matter up the chain of command, reminding her of his own professional obligations. Yet by the episode’s conclusion, Wes returned to headquarters only to find Ella waiting for him, greeting him with an intimate, “Hey, baby.” Their reunion seemed to open the door to unresolved emotions and unfinished business, and now, with Ella actively working alongside the Fly Team, it appears that personal and professional lines will blur in ways that could complicate an already perilous investigation.

All of this is unfolding as FBI: International heads toward its bittersweet conclusion. Earlier this month, CBS officially announced that the series has been canceled, confirming that its current fourth season will serve as its final chapter. With only a handful of episodes left before the series finale, the stakes are higher than ever — both for the characters within the story and for longtime fans watching from home. Episode 16 promises to deliver action, suspense, and emotional turmoil, setting the stage for the final stretch of the Fly Team’s journey.
