See Fran Drescher, ‘Nanny’ co-stars (including ‘Mistah Sheffield’) reunite

Drescher hosted a birthday party for co-star Renee Taylor, and fellow “Nanny” actor Charles Shaughnessy was there to celebrate the occasion.

If you look at recent photos of a mini-reunion of cast members from “The Nanny,” you can almost hear the joyful (and distinctive) laugh of its top-billed star, Fran Drescher.

Three cast members from the ’90s CBS sitcom gathered to celebrate the birthday of Renée Taylor, who played Sylvia Fine, the mom of Drescher’s Fran Fine.

Joining the celebration was Charles Shaughnessy, who played the titular character’s eventual husband Maxwell Sheffield or — if you want to employ Fran Fine’s heavy Queens accent — “Mistah” Sheffield.

The get-together took place at Drescher’s house in Malibu, California, according to Shaughnessy’s public Facebook page, which posted pics of the mini-reunion last week.

“An evening with the mother in law!” reads the caption to a group photo, which received more than 21,000 likes on Facebook. “Happy Birthday Renee!!”

A day later, Shaughnessy’s account posted another pic of himself with Drescher.

On Thursday, Shaughnessy’s page posted a third “Nanny”-themed photo, another version of the smiling trio.

Originally running between 1993 and 1999, “The Nanny” inspired a more formal on-air reunion, “The Nanny: A Nosh to Remember” in 2004, and cameos by Taylor and Shaughnessy on Drescher’s follow-up TV Land comedy, “Happily Divorced.”
