Season 8 of ‘The Rookie’ Brings Huge Changes – You’ll Love Who’s Staying for Good!

With only a few episodes remaining in Season 7, The Rookie just got a major update. Deadline reports that Deric Augustine, who made his debut as Miles Penn in the series earlier this year, has been upped to a series regular. Penn is one of this season’s rookies, even though he’s a transfer from Texas with several years of experience as a police officer. The most recent episode of The Rookie saw anti-LAPD billboards emerge across the city. As the team searches for who’s responsible, a car bombing prompts another investigation, and tonight’s episode will follow documentary filmmakers interviewing the LAPD on a complicated missing person case connected to John (Nathan Fillion). The Rookie will conclude with its season finale in May after 18 episodes.

The Rookie kicked off in 2018, and while there have been plenty of new names to join the cast over the years, Nathan Fillion has remained a constant as the only character to appear in every episode. Fillion’s Officer John Nolan is followed by Alyssa Diaz’s Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones’ Wade Grey, Melissa O’Neil’s Lucy Chen, and Eric Winter’s Tim Bradford, who have all starred in 126 episodes of the series after also debuting in 2018. Following behind this group is Mekia Cox, who was featured in 2013 episodes of The Rookie as Detective Nyla Harper, with X-Men veteran Shawn Ashmore also starring in 95 episodes as Wesley Evers. Lissbeth Chavez has starred in 65 episodes of The Rookie as Celina Juarez, with Titus Makin Jr. and Jenna Dewan featured in 54 episodes each as Jackson West and Bailey Nune, respectively.
