Virgin River fans are making a strong plea for Netflix to remember when the hit show’s sixth season finally arrives.
The beloved small-town drama follows Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge), a woman who moves to an idyllic Northern California location after a tragedy.
Once settled, she quickly falls in love with local bar owner and former Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and befriends many of the town’s residents.
However, as secrets are revealed and the townspeople face their own challenges, she soon discovers that small-town life isn’t as simple as she thought.
The sixth season of Virgin River is expected to debut on Netflix before the end of the year, but one fan recently took to Reddit in hopes that the streaming service will improve one important thing.
They claim that the show’s promotion has been lacking in recent years, keeping it from becoming one of the platform’s biggest hits.
“Just put it out there,” their post begins. “Netflix should do a better job of promoting the new season 6 with multiple opportunities to watch our favorite shows on multiple channels.
“See the entire cast of Emily in Paris pop up everywhere. Similar to Bridgerton when they released their latest season.
“I came to the show late, started watching right before season 5 came out. Since I’m old and have days when I feel like I’m brainwashed, I don’t remember promoting it as much for VR.
“I think the cast can get a lot of credit for all the promotion they’ve done on their own, via IG, etc.”
Alexandra regularly posts updates on the series on her Instagram and has just started a podcast with co-star Zibby Allen, who plays Jack’s sister Brie, to interview the show’s main and supporting cast.
However, fans rarely get to see the cast interviewed by major networks, despite Virgin River having one of Netflix’s most loyal fan bases.
One fan echoed this sentiment, replying with a fun update: “I thought exactly the same thing my friend. Alex said on her podcast that they did their first photoshoot for S6!
“I have a feeling they’re planning to ramp up the promotion for S6 but I’d be surprised if it’s on the same level as the other two shows you mentioned.
“For Emily in Paris, they seem to be capitalizing on Lily Collins’ popularity. Not sure if glamorous premieres and stylish outfits will work for Virgin River, but hopefully they find a way to showcase the cast and promote the show in VR.”
Another added: “I’ve never seen [Emily in Paris or Bridgerton], and I don’t want to. I don’t even know who the actors are, but Martin Henderson is famous all over the world. “One of the VR groups I’m in has over 45k members. The girls love him and Netflix would do well to promote him a bit more.”
A release date for season six has yet to be confirmed, so could we start seeing more promotion when Netflix finally reveals when new episodes will air?
