In an interview with TV Insider, David Boreanaz, who plays Jason Hayes, explained why the show is coming to an end. “So when the season started, it was like, okay, this is the perfect way to end that cycle for this character,” he said. “For me, I knew it was the right way and I knew I was done before the writers’ strike. I had expressed my desire to not be on the show anymore. I was done regardless of whether they wanted to do two more seasons or one more season, I was done. Then the writers’ strike happened and six months later, the decision was made. So we were able to put this final season in to help complete that cycle for him.”
