‘SEAL Team’ Star Toni Trucks Previews ‘Exciting’ Final Season (Exclusive)
The seventh and final season premieres Sunday, August 11, and Toni Trucks spoke to PopCulture.com about what to expect. The actress has played Lisa Davis since the first season, moving up throughout the series and now serves as Bravo Team’s Intelligence Officer. While Trucks wouldn’t reveal too much about the upcoming 10-episode season of the military drama being picked up by CBS for Paramount+, she did say it’s going to be a roller coaster.
“I can tell you that this season is going to have a lot of ups and downs, and you’re going to see the team really push themselves out of their comfort zone in a big way,” Trucks teased. “And we’re going to go to some places that we’ve never been before. And so I think it’s going to be an exciting season.” SEAL Team has been an emotional and intense roller coaster for the past six seasons, but the stakes are sure to be higher than ever for the final episodes.
Speaking of excitement, Trucks shared her thoughts on a possible happy ending for Davis and A.J. Buckley’s Sonny Quinn. They both clearly have feelings for each other and care deeply for each other, but the timing just never quite worked out for them, as Trucks said, “Davis and Sonny are so rigid, and they love each other, but they each have something else they love just as much or more, which is their jobs.”
Trucks continued, “Sonny couldn’t see any other path than joining SEAL Team.” “He can’t imagine that. And Davis also has such a sense of righteousness and work that’s so important to her. It represents a lot of stability and responsibility in her life. And that’s the barrier for them, always, ‘Are we really going to take care of ourselves first? Are we really going to choose love over all the other utilitarian things that are serving us?’ And this season doesn’t disappoint in having to hit that crossroads again.”
Meanwhile, her relationship with Sonny isn’t the only thing Davis has to worry about. At the end of Season 6, she has a new job. While she’ll still be working with the SEALs, and most importantly, with Bravo, it’ll be a little different, and Toni Trucks thinks it’s just one step closer to her dream job.
“Davis has made a really big change in trying to proactively change the way we think about war funding and the way we protect our troops,” Trucks explained. “And she really wants to have a more global impact and get out of it. We don’t have to keep sending people that she considers family into combat like this. We can do this in a smarter way. And so I think she’s incredibly passionate. She sees herself as more of a ‘pie-eater.’ She knows she’s in the office space and the Pentagon and beyond, trying to make an impact in a different way. And so I think that’s something that she’s always wanted as a dream position or steps to a potential dream position for her.”
While it will be sad to say goodbye to Bravo, Davis, and everyone, fans are sure to be in for a fun ride with the final season and who knows what’s going to happen. Be sure to tune in to the two-episode Season 7 premiere this Sunday, August 11 on Paramount+. New episodes will air on the streaming service weekly.
