The final episode of the SEAL Team series premieres Sunday, October 6 on Paramount+, and David Boreanaz spoke to PopCulture.com about what to expect. The latest episode sees his character, Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes, pulled away from an operation with the rest of Bravo to assassinate a traitor to the United States. It’s a risky operation and one that will undoubtedly leave him reeling. When asked ahead of time how Jason’s story will end, Boreanaz asked the additional questions, “Will it end? Will it not end?”
He continued, “I think for Jason this season, it really looked at and focused on what it was like to kill first, which is very, very authentic to our show. And when you think about SEAL Team, you think about authenticity, you think about hard work, you think about dedication to getting it right. We hit that mark, and I knew for this character and putting him in this situation when we saw him in the final frame, he was going to leave it on the battlefield. And did he survive?
Jason’s operation was a serious one, as he was called in to assassinate Ross Curtis, who was part of the U.S. Army Special Forces and trained with Honduran soldiers, including the very man behind the fentanyl drug operation that Bravo was trying to dismantle. Since this is the series finale, unfortunately, there’s a good chance that at least one member of Bravo won’t survive. Boreanaz kept quiet It’s been quiet about whether or not that member is Jason, but it wouldn’t be surprising. Fans and Bravo are still mourning the loss of Thieriot’s Max Clay Spenser, but it would make sense for it to end on another disastrous note. At the very least, both operations would have to end successfully for Bravo to win.
Jason has been through a lot over these seven seasons, including this final season when his son Mikey was hospitalized and his TBI became public. While one would hope that his story would have a happy ending and he could return home to be with his son and watch his daughter get married, it could really go either way. Fans will have to wait and see what happens when the SEAL Team finale premieres this Sunday on Paramount+.
