SEAL Team Season 7 Sparks Concerns as Paramount Boss Gives Disappointing Update on Series
Season six of SEAL Team has been packed with plenty of cliffhangers as it comes to an emotional conclusion in November 2022. After moving to Paramount+ from CBS, the action only got more intense with a swear word or two and the heartbreaking departure of fan favorite Clay Spenser (played by Max Thieriot). But while the finale set up an exciting seventh season, fans are still left wondering if it will actually come to fruition.
However, she didn’t exactly deliver the exciting news fans were hoping for.
When asked by TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich at TCA if a renewal was in the works, she replied, “Not yet, not quite.”
However, she did offer some comfort and signs of hope as she heaped praise on the series.
Giles added that SEAL Team is “one of those shows that has successfully transitioned from broadcast to streaming.
“We’ve seen that a few times now, and it’s great to see.”
With Paramount’s streaming bosses recognising the show’s success, fans will have to wait patiently to see if official news of a new series emerges anytime soon.
One thing is for sure, fans will want to see how Bravo fares when Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) finally opens up about his TBI.
Jason blames himself for Clay’s death, as his involvement in the Mali ambush in season five left him with a leg amputated and he ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time when a security guard killed him while he was off-duty.
In the season six finale, Jason was awarded the Navy Cross for saving Clay and others during the ambush, the irony of which was highlighted by Clay’s grieving father, Ash (C Thomas Howell).
However, Clay’s wife Stella (Alona Tal) does her best to comfort Jason, telling him, “If you hadn’t saved Clay that day, I would have less time with my husband, and he would never have the chance to be a father, something he loved so much.
“I never took a minute of that time for granted, and I’m here to see you honored for what you gave us,” she added, bringing tears to the eyes of onlookers.
At the ceremony, Jason decided to come clean and take full responsibility for Clay’s death, citing his brain injury as the main reason.
“I was protecting myself, worried that my superiors would find out what this war had done to my head,” Jason told the admiring crowd.
“I hid my brain injury (and) Clay Spenser paid the ultimate price for that.”
Jason was nearly asked to resign as Bravo commander as a result.
But when Blackburn (Judd Lormand) tells him he has “no choice” but to take him down, Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr.) exposes it all by interrupting and informing his superiors about his own PTS battle.
This prompts several other members to enter the room and inform Blackburn and his crew of their health issues, ranging from tinnitus to dissociative syndrome and memory loss.
Jason is clearly moved by the team’s gesture, prompting Ray to reply, “What’s the commander going to do, pull all our birds away? As you taught me, top dog, always improve your fighting position.”
Compared to Bravo coming together to save Jason from the axe, what will the team look like in season seven, and will everyone finally get the help they need?
