SEAL Team Season 7: How Jason’s Exit Will Impact the Team, Star Explains
SEAL Team star Beau Knapp has explained how Jason’s departure at the end of season 7, episode 5 will impact the team in the upcoming episode, teasing the intense tension ahead. During the latest episode of the action drama, the team captain received a call from his son’s hockey coach, revealing that he had torn his ACL and would need reconstructive surgery. SEAL Team Season 7, episode 5 ended with Jason abruptly leaving Bravo Team despite their deployment in Asia, returning home to his injured son.

David Boreanaz looking unimpressed in SEAL Team episode 7

Speaking to TVLine, Knapp, who plays Bravo’s newest member Drew Franklin, explained how Jason’s absence in season 7, episode 6 will impact the team and their mission. The star explained how Jason actor David Boreanaz directed episode 6 and that the episode will feature several scenes with him and his son. As for the team themselves, it seems like there’s no clear leader in their mission after Jason leaves, but they’ll be working together to complete their mission. Check out what Knapp had to say below: Yeah. Six is an interesting episode because David directed it. So he had a couple of scenes with his son and everything. DB is going to bring out the best in us because he knows us because he’s worked with us. He sees our strengths, our weaknesses, how we work, and he can, not manipulate, but get us to a place where we shine.

But yeah, not having B1 [Jason] there is really complicated because you’re like, who’s in charge? Is Ray in charge? It’s almost like a hodgepodge. It’s an action-packed episode, so we’re always busy with—when we’re sitting around the table or at the cage or wherever, we can talk and talk privately and talk shit and all that, but when the moment comes, when we’re fighting, all that is forgotten. What they talk about is, can we trust Drew? Can I trust Sonny to protect me when the bullets start flying? All this stuff. But yeah, I think [Episode] 6 is probably the closest we’ve come, besides getting closer towards the end. Like after [Episode] 5, we’ve been through that and now we’re in this situation. And in episode 5, Drew says, let’s be professional, let’s not ever talk about this moment again. I don’t want to hear that from you guys. Nothing. This never happened. So there’s respect between everyone after that. Like they’ve been through something together. And even if it’s not said afterwards, we all know. Truths have been told, secrets have been revealed, and yes, I think they’re definitely closer than ever.

Without Jason to guide the group, the cast of SEAL Team Season 7 will need to quickly create a new structure for themselves as they continue their mission. However, there’s bound to be more dramatic tension in the future, as Knapp makes it clear that there won’t be a secondary leader added to the team when the episode begins. While it seems like everyone will be reunited by the time episode 6 ends, they probably won’t be able to function without Jason until they go through some major conflicts with each other.

As for Jason himself, episode 5 sees him struggling to balance his role as a father to his son and as a leader to his team, as evidenced by the decision he ultimately makes. With only five episodes left of SEAL Team, it looks like Mikey’s torn ACL will be a major factor in determining his current leadership position, especially depending on how well the team can cope without him. Depending on how well the mission in China goes, this could lead to major conflict in future episodes, as the protagonist is forced to grapple with where his priorities really lie. While Jason being away from his team will make the mission much more precarious moving forward, it seems like his responsibilities as a father are becoming more important to him than his leadership role on Bravo. His son’s torn ACL could be a driving factor in his storyline for the remainder of season 7, forcing him to rethink the dangerous international missions he’s always been assigned. SEAL Team Episode 6 could be a transformative moment for both him and his teammates as they learn to live without each other, impacting the course of the final episodes of this season.
