‘SEAL Team’ Season 7 Episode 7 Preview: Jason Hayes Might Be Hanging Up His Boots For Good
With each new episode, the tension builds in ‘SEAL Team’ Season 7, which is also the final season of the fan-favorite show. As seen in Episode 6, Jason Hayes’ (David Boreanaz) TBI finally caught up with him, and in order to keep anyone else from knowing about it, the man took a leave of absence from Bravo Team and returned home to care for his ailing son Michael Hayes, aka Mikey (Ammon Jacob Ford), after a surgery. However, the latest episode sheds light on Hayes’s suffering and casts a shadow over his return to Bravo Team.
In contrast, Bravo Team is suffering after Hayes left, but continues to rely on Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr.). However, the latest episode leaves the team on their own without the leadership of Ray and Hayes. In a dire scenario, things get serious; with Bravo Team’s lives on the line, the new leader steps in and makes a bold choice, proving that Bravo Team will continue to thrive no matter the circumstances.
What to Expect from ‘SEAL Team’ Season 7 Episode 7?
Hayes has returned home after suffering from TBI symptoms, but his life is turned upside down once again when his son Mikey accidentally overdoses. It turns out that the boy who had surgery asked Hayes for painkillers, but he refused because he was too dependent on the difficulties. Later, when his friend Dough comes to visit, Mikey swallows a pill, most likely a narcotic given to Dough by his wrestling seniors.
When Mikey becomes very ill in the hospital, Hayes is devastated, feeling as though he can’t juggle being a parent and being the head of Bravo Team. This sends an underlying message that Hayes, like Ray, could choose to retire and pursue a normal life with his family. While I’m sure the creators will have something fitting to say goodbye to the iconic Hayes character, I also want him to say goodbye to his duties and just take care of himself.
2. Can Omar Hamza handle his leadership role on ‘SEAL Team’?
After Hayes and Ray leave Bravo Team, Omar Hamza (Raffi Barsoumian) takes over as leader. While he struggles at first, he eventually figures it out and actually leads the crew out of a dangerous situation. While it may seem speculative, it’s clear that Omar’s leadership will face some challenges in future episodes.
First, Omar must prove himself to the military higher-ups and then convince them that he is capable of taking on the leadership role. It is likely that Ray and Hayes, the senior members of the team, will vote for Omar as the future leader.
3. What are Bravo Team’s next steps?
After Bravo Team successfully captures Jun, Lisa Davis (Toni Trucks) informs Lt. Col. Eric Blackburn (Judd Lormand) that the team will be returning because the Chinese government has also requested Jun’s extradition, and since the man is a Chinese citizen, their request will likely take precedence, rendering Bravo Team’s efforts futile. However, Blackburn assures Davis that the DEA-Bravo Team relationship provides a proof of concept for the integration, making this scenario a true win for both parties.
So when Bravo Team finally returns, we could see more of their personal lives. Ray’s retirement preparations, some insight into Drew Franklin’s (Beau Knapp) family, and of course, the resolution of the long-standing relationship between Sonny Quinn (A J Buckley) and Davis. It would be a great finale, to say the least.
