SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7 Ending Explained
SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7 “Mission Creep” is an episode defined by self-destruction, with Jason, Ray, and Drew all doing their best to sabotage themselves and any progress they’ve made since the start of their stories on the show. The Paramount+ military drama, created by Benjamin Cavell, is in the midst of airing its seventh and final season, with just a few episodes left until the series finale. As SEAL Team comes to an end, the show seems to be hitting rock bottom for its characters before (hopefully) giving them a happy, satisfying ending.
David Boreanaz’s Jason has been struggling since SEAL Team season 7 premiered. His traumatic brain injury (TBI) is ongoing and getting worse with each passing episode, and Mikey’s near-death experience certainly doesn’t help matters. Meanwhile, Drew and his mysterious family remain a mystery (with episode 7 revealing some new information), and the reality of retirement hits Ray hard as he prepares to leave Bravo. So it’s safe to say that most of the SEAL Team characters are experiencing it in season 7, episode 7. After capturing and forcing the release of Jun Yilin (a fentanyl precursor kingpin with ties to the Sai Lou, a Chinese criminal organization) in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6, Bravo returns home in episode 7. However, the fight to incriminate China in the drug trade isn’t over. One of the barrels of fentanyl precursors that Bravo tagged on one of their previous missions has been pinged to a new location—Honduras, while the rest has been shipped to Mexico.
Lieutenant Davis discovers that a former Honduran Special Forces colonel, Ramone Nazario, is doing the dirty work for China. In turn, China is using drug money to fund Nazario’s plan to overthrow the Honduran government. So Command sends Bravo (along with Davis) to Honduras to prove the connection between China and Nazario. When the SEALs get there, they raid drug trafficking targets but find nothing. However, at the end of season 7, episode 7, the SEALs find millions of dollars behind the walls of a stash house. They then burn the money to lure the target out.
Jason makes the difficult decision to leave Bravo and return home during a SEAL Team deployment in season 7, episode 5. He thinks he can help Mikey and prove that he can balance work and family. Mikey’s accidental overdose in episode 6 convinces Jason that he belongs in the war, not at home with Mandy and his two kids. So in SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 7, Jason goes down a path of self-destruction, and having nightmares about the first person he killed certainly doesn’t help his mental state.
Jason doesn’t know who he is if he isn’t Bravo 1, but he needs to look forward, not back.
Jason believes that his identity is inherently tied to the Navy SEALs, which is why he focuses entirely on Bravo’s next mission. In doing so, he begins to push Mandy, Mikey, and Emma away. Jason doesn’t know who he is if he isn’t Bravo 1, but he needs to look forward, not back. Commander Blackburn and Captain Walch even offer Jason a new position, where he will guide warriors through TBI treatment options and monitor their progress against the disease. However, Jason was not interested in the idea, replying that “carrying a rifle” was how he made his impact.
Ben, who many blamed for Clay’s death in SEAL Team season 6, returned in season 7, episode 7, when Sonny brought him to the Spenser House. Unfortunately, Ray was not happy to see him and felt ambushed. Ben tried to get his life back on track, and Sonny put aside his anger towards Ben to help him, but Ray’s resentment towards Ben was still strong. Ray yelled at Ben and kicked him out of the Spenser House. As a result, Sonny was disappointed in Ray, and Naima was confused about what was going on.
However, Ray’s disappointment ran deeper than his interactions with Ben in SEAL Team season 7, episode 7. After the dangerous mission in Malaysia in episode 6, Ray was hesitant about retiring. He explains to Naima that he feels like he’s abandoning his brothers. So Ray goes with Bravo to Honduras, even though Jason tells him he can sit it out because he’s so close to retirement. So perhaps his outburst with Ben will fuel Ray’s desire to stay with Bravo in SEAL Team season 7. At the beginning of SEAL Team season 7, episode 7, Davis is visited by Admiral Rivas. He explains to her that he’s going to the Pentagon later because he’s likely to get a big promotion, and Rivas wants Davis to be his right-hand man if that happens. Of course, Davis is eager to accept the offer. Rivas is impressed with the work
