SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 5 Ending Explained
Bravo goes toe-to-toe (with each other) in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, “A Perfect Storm,” but by the end of the hour, the fight gets better, as the truth is revealed, relationships become stronger, and Jason finally puts himself first. The seventh season of the Paramount+ military drama series follows David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes and his Bravo Team after the events of the season 6 finale. Though assigned to shore duty, the SEALs eventually get their assignment and are deployed to Thailand in SEAL Team season 7, episode 3, where they’ve been ever since.
After an intelligence-gathering mission on Sai Lou (a Chinese criminal organization) in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4, Bravo is assigned to another mission in episode 5, which brings them closer to exposing the team and everyone associated with it. However, tensions rise throughout the mission, as do temperatures, as the air conditioning in the surveillance station breaks down. As a result, fights break out, leading to the most dramatic episode of the season.
Early in the hour, Lieutenant Lisa Davis receives intelligence that a key Chinese national (Jun Li Lin) who could link Beijing and fentanyl is vacationing at his home in George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia. While the SEALs don’t have a green light to arrest Jun, Bravo is able to monitor his home to gather intelligence and study his security. So when the arrest is approved, they’re prepared. Jason and his team arrive on Penang Island in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, where their mission doesn’t go exactly as planned.
Bravo is stationed 500 yards from Jun’s house in an old abandoned restaurant in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5. Unfortunately, the air conditioning is not working, meaning the men are hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable for an hour. While keeping an eye on the house, one of Jun’s colleagues, Han, and her family (including her husband and son) show up to stay there for the holidays. Things get worse when members of a Mexican gang show up, expecting to find Jun.
The gang members begin interrogating and torturing Han and her husband for information about Jun. Bravo wants to intervene, but Davis tells them to stop, which is not acceptable to most of the men. However, when Han’s son wakes up, alerts the gang to his presence, and the power goes out due to a storm, Bravo Team springs into action to save the family. Of course, their mission was a success in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5. Thanks to his heroics, Han is willing to cooperate with the military and the DEA in the case against Jun.
Bravo Team has had some major changes in SEAL Team season 7, and it all catches up to them in episode 5. Tensions between Jason, Ray, Sonny, and Omar have been building up and coming to a head when Davis doesn’t give Bravo the green light to intervene against Han and the gang. Omar is upset because he feels like his voice isn’t being heard. Sonny believes Jason is going soft when he notices a change in his behavior and methods, and he accuses Ray of having one foot out the door. Meanwhile, Jason and Ray are just trying to protect themselves and each other.
All this new information combined with intense heat and heightened emotions is a recipe for disaster.
Additionally, Ray reveals that Jason wants to give up his trident after the events of the season 6 finale, and Omar informs Ray that Quinn spoke up at Ben’s sentencing hearing. But the bottom line is that each character has a different definition of what loyalty to Bravo actually means, and some have unrealistic expectations of Jason. So when put into a pressure cooker on SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, Jason, Ray, Omar, and Sonny explode.
Omar and Ray’s fight in particular was quite interesting in episode 5, especially after their scenes on SEAL Team season 7, episode 2. As many know, Ray is just weeks away from retirement. So he’s been training and preparing Omar for when he’s gone. However, Omar was clearly angry with Ray’s methods, and he finally let him know in the big bang of “A Perfect Storm.”
When Jason, Ray, Sonny, and Omar were in the middle of their big fight in episode 5, Drew finally opened up about his past (to get them all to shut up).
Omar informed Ray that he had been acting like a helicopter mom in the SEAL Team season 7 episodes. He felt like Ray had second-guessed Bravo-2, undermining his judgment and competence on the team. Of course, the two men made up by the end of the episode. Still, Omar and Ray’s dynamic will be one to watch as the final season of the Paramount+ military drama continues.
