SEAL Team fans ‘sobbing’ as Jason reunites with Alana: ‘It’s emotional’
Paramount Network’s military drama SEAL Team returns to the big screen after a 16-day hiatus. Just as Jason Hayes (played by David Boreanaz) has come to terms with his fragile mental state, fans were left sobbing after he reunited with Alana Hayes (Michaela McManus).
The episode, titled Keys to Heaven, sees Jason finally come to terms with the harsh truth about a past mission that went horribly wrong due to his mental condition.
Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr) and Clay Spenser (Max Thieriot) are forced to tell Bravo the cold truth about their rescue mission in Mali.
While viewers didn’t get to see how it happened, the eighth episode showed the team in the hospital – with Trent Sawyer (Tyler Gray) in an artificial coma.
While Clay tried to figure out what happened, Jason couldn’t remember and then told two different stories.
During the hospital visit, Jason was officially diagnosed with a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) but he couldn’t handle the pressure of the situation and left.
In the most recent episode, Jason was finally informed that it was his own forgetfulness that caused the near-fatal disaster.
Instead of the enemy RPG that he initially claimed was the cause of the building collapsing and sending his entire team to the hospital.
Jason refused to listen and called the claims “b*****t” before leaving.
He later accepts the fact that his 20-year career on the front lines is coming to an end, calling it: “The worst way ever.”
Ray, who has sought professional help for his PTSD, offers to help Jason and takes him to see Mark Lee (Shawn Hatosy), a former ranger who has self-medicated his way out of PTS and TBI.
Although Jason is initially skeptical, he is eventually convinced and takes the hallucinogenic drug in hopes of receiving a similar “enlightenment.”
Instead, his mind forces him to confront his past, including the first deaths he feels responsible for, and then in a shocking scene, reunites with his late wife Alanna.
Fans were moved to tears as they saw the two share the screen again, something they hadn’t done since her death in season two.
