S.W.A.T. is coming back for its eighth season with some new cast changes. The show was supposed to end after the seventh season, but CBS decided to continue it, leading to some updates in the cast.
Annie Ilonzeh, who was on Chicago Fire, will join the show as Devin Gamble. Gamble comes from a family involved in crime and wants to escape her past. After her father is arrested, she moves to join the Oakland police department. Hondo, played by Shemar Moore, brings her back to his team because he sees her potential.
Niko Pepaj, who has been playing Miguel Alfaro since season 6, is now a main cast member. Alfaro’s character has changed from having problems with Jim Street to being a key part of the team.
However, some familiar characters will be leaving the show. Jim Street and Kenny have been written off, but they could return as guest characters. Rochelle Aytes, who plays Hondo’s wife, is also leaving her regular role for a new job but might appear occasionally.
S.W.A.T. season 8 will premiere on Friday, October 18, at 8 PM EST on CBS, bringing a fresh look with its new cast.
