S.W.A.T. is heading back to our TV screens this month, seemingly for the last time.
The hit CBS series was actually cancelled after six seasons on the air, and the backlash was so strong that CBS reversed their decision, resulting in Season 7, which will have 13 episodes!
“We have listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for S.W.A.T. and we have reached an agreement to renew it for a final season of 13 episodes to air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year,” Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment, and Katherine Pope, President, Sony Pictures Television Studios, said in a statement.
The show’s final season is set to premiere on Friday (February 16) at 8 p.m. ET, and we already know who is expected to be back.

Anna Enger Ritch as Officer Zoe Powell – PROMOTED TO SERIES REGULAR!
Anna Enger Ritch made her S.W.A.T. debut as Officer Zoe Powell in Season 5, and has been promoted to series regular, TVLine reported January 25.
“There’s always gossip, but I did not get final confirmation until right before we started production, after the [WGA and SAG-AFTRA] strikes,” she said.
In Part 1 of S.W.A.T.‘s Season 7 opener, airing Friday, February 16, Hondo, Hicks and Powell go to Mexico City to retrieve a fugitive who slipped from Hondo’s grasp 10 years ago. But when “trouble ensues, as it always does on S.W.A.T.,” she explains, Hondo finds himself once again on the killer’s trail, desperate to fulfill a decade-old promise.
Alex Russell as Jim Street – RETURNING, BUT ONLY RECURRING
Alex will be back as Jim Street in Season 7 but only in recurring status.
Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca – RETURNING, BUT ONLY RECURRING
Kenny is set to return as Dominique Luca in Season 7 but only in recurring status as well.
“Looking at [Season 7] being the final 13 [episodes], we wanted to give everybody their proper curtain call,” S.W.A.T. showrunner Andrew Dettmann told TVLine in February, “so the episodes that we have for them are really focused on their characters and the evolution of their storylines…I’m really excited about the episodes we have for [Luca and Street]. The idea for the final 13 was that, if this was the end for us, nobody feels like they were underserved. There are some really good episodes for Alex and Kenny, for Street and Luca.”
