Shemar Moore is set to reprise his iconic role as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in the upcoming S.W.A.T. spinoff series, S.W.A.T. Exiles. However, this return comes with a significant change: the series has been ordered for only 10 episodes, marking a departure from the original show’s typical 22-episode seasons.
The decision to limit the episode count follows a tumultuous history for the S.W.A.T. franchise. Despite strong viewership—over 8 million viewers per episode—the series faced cancellation three times due to licensing and economic issues between CBS and Sony Pictures Television. Each time, fan outcry and Shemar Moore’s vocal advocacy led to its revival, with the eighth and final season airing in 2025.
In a statement, Moore expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue Hondo’s story, stating, “I’m not done being Hondo.” He also acknowledged the challenges the show faced, saying, “We deserve to bow out gracefully.”
As production begins this summer, fans can anticipate the premiere of S.W.A.T. Exiles in late 2025. While the limited episode count may be a departure from the original series, Moore’s return offers a chance to revisit the beloved character and explore new storylines within the S.W.A.T. universe.
