Rumors are swirling that Jamie Dornan won’t be returning for the sequel — but that’s all they are, rumors.
Jamie Dornan made Fifty Shades of Grey into one of the most talked about films of the year, but will he continue to star as Christian Grey?
While there are still two books left in the series, rumors started swirling that Dornan wouldn’t continue to play the S&M-loving businessman because his wife Amelia Warner doesn’t approve of the part.
And if that purported reason wasn’t enough reason to write off the claims as false, Dornan’s rep tells ET, “Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film.”
Of course, this isn’t to say the 32-year-old actor’s wife loves watching her husband go at it with Dakota Johnson. “She doesn’t want to watch this,” Dornan told USA Today. “She’s well aware that it’s pretend, but it’s probably not that comfortable to watch.”
And she isn’t the only one uncomfortable with the hot and heavy scenes. “Some of the Red Room stuff was uncomfortable,” he also admitted to Glamour magazine. “There were times when Dakota was not wearing much, and I had to do stuff to her that I’d never choose to do to a woman.”
In spite of the discomfort, the movie was box office success in its first weekend, generating over $81 million in ticket sales. It grossed over $131 million nationwide in just two weeks, but would a sequel be just as desirable?
