With over 1000 years of character history, Ghosts has nearly endless opportunities for flashbacks, ranging from brief jokes to elaborate character reveals. In Season 4 alone, we’ve seen the first meeting between Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) and Thor (Devan Chandler Long), the moment Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) set out to chase her dreams of being a musician, and Flower’s (Shiela Carrasco) early days in the cult.
I recently sat down with Zaragoza to unpack his big two-part romance arc in “His Girl Shiki” and this week’s episode, “Smooching and Smushing,” and during our delightful conversation, I had to ask what kind of flashbacks he’d like to see in the future now that the show has been renewed for two seasons. “Oh, boy. Gosh. I definitely want to see more of Thor and Sass before anyone else is there,” he explained, building off of the flashback to their first meeting in this year’s holiday special, “A Very Arondekar Christmas.” He went on to say, “I want to see how they communicate before they learn each other’s languages. I think that could be so fun, them just trying to figure each other out, and then Sass is like, ‘Ugh, this guy’s an idiot.’ [Laughs] But then there’s been such sweet, tender moments between the two of them.”
Coming in as a close second for Zaragoza is something we’ve only seen once on the show: each ghost meeting the rest of the household after they’ve passed. He told Collider:
“I think it would be really fun to see every time a person dies and they become a ghost. I want to see every person when that happened for them because it’s such a fun moment. We saw that with Trevor. There’s something bizarre about it. It’d be fun to see every character in that moment.”
What To Expect From the Final Episodes of ‘Ghosts’ Season 4
There are only a handful of episodes left for Ghosts Season 4, and the hit comedy series is pulling out all the stops as we head for the finale. On this week’s episode, Sasappis continues his quest for love as he attempts to cross the ghost boundary using the ghost trap from Season 2. Looking ahead, CBS has already revealed the title and synopsis for the finale. “The Devil Went Down to Woodstone” promises the return of Matt Walsh‘s Elias after he attempted to get his hands on Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) soul earlier this season. When I spoke with series lead Rose McIver earlier this season, she told Collider that the final episode is “jam-packed,” as we see “a who’s who of ghostdom.”
Tune in tonight on CBS to see if Sasappis finally gets the romance of his dreams at 8:30 PM ET, and stay tuned at Collider for the rest of our conversation with Zaragoza.
