Roger Howarth Makes Exciting Debut on The Young and the Restless

After weeks of speculation, The Young and the Restless has given fans their first glimpse of Emmy-winning actor Roger Howarth in a brand-new role. Best known for his memorable performances on One Life to Live and General Hospital, Howarth officially joins the CBS soap in an all-new character that has already sparked excitement among viewers.

The official Young and the Restless preview showcased Howarth’s character in a short clip titled “Meet the Bacalls.” In the scene, he walks into a bar and greets Tamara Braun’s character, Sienna Bacall, with a casual, “Hey.” She responds warmly, “Hey, long time no see,” prompting him to tease, “Yeah, you won’t believe what I’ve been up to.” The brief interaction hints at intrigue and drama ahead for the new character.

When Howarth was first cast, he shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Excited and appreciative… I’m a lucky guy…” He later added, “I don’t know what to say… except Thank you. So, thank you,” tagging the show and his agency. Fans quickly responded with enthusiasm. One viewer commented, “Can’t wait to see these two actors on Y&R. I hope they bring drama and excitement to the soap,” while another wrote, “Roger looks amazing. Love his new look.” A third fan added, “Can’t wait to see Tamara and Roger together”

Howarth has a long history in daytime television. He began his career in 1992 on the ABC series Loving as Kent Winslow and later appeared briefly on Guiding Light as Jory. That same year, he landed the role that would make him a household name, Todd Manning on One Life to Live, a character he portrayed intermittently until the show’s cancellation in 2013.

In addition to Todd Manning, Howarth also played Paul Ryan on As The World Turns from 2003 until the show ended in 2010. Following One Life to Live’s cancellation, he crossed over Todd Manning to General Hospital. After Todd’s storyline concluded in 2013, Howarth remained on the show, taking on the role of Franco Baldwin until 2021, and later portraying Austin Gatlin-Holt until 2023.

With his extensive daytime experience and ability to breathe life into complex characters, Roger Howarth’s debut on The Young and the Restless promises to be a major event for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
