Longtime Reno doctor Guy Gansert will appear on the upcoming season of “The Golden Bachelorette,” a spin off from the original reality TV dating show.
The show’s premise is to match older men and women for a second chance at love in the sunset years of life.
Gansert, 66, is one of 24 men vying for a chance at love with Joan Vassos, a contestant who left the first season of “The Golden Bachelor” due to a family emergency. Most of the men competing on the show are in their 60s, but at least one is in his 50s.
But this time, unlike being one of two dozen women looking for love with a single bachelor, Vassos, 61, has her choice of asking contestants to stay each week.
Among those is Gansert, who on media materials released this week is front and center in a photo showing all 24 men.
Could it be clue to Gansert’s fate on the popular show?
Contestants are sworn to silence about the outcome while the previously-taped episodes air on TV.
In promotional material introducing the bachelors looking for love, Gansert shoots a dart at a dartboard and says, “Let’s just say it’s a whole lot different than when I was in college.”
According to the Disney, Gansert dedicated 40 years of his life to helping people and loves to spend time with his four kids and grandchild.
“He is a big believer in chivalry,” according to publicity information released ahead of the show’s premiere on ABC. Episodes can also be streamed on Hulu.
The publicity information also included a fun fact about Gansert: He’s planning to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in the fall.
Gansert posted on Facebook the news he was on the upcoming season of the show, set to air on Sept. 18.
He wrote that the experience was a “truly transformational journey. One I can say sincerely changed my life for the better,” he wrote.
Gansert is divorced from Nevada politician Heidi Gansert, who has been in state politics since 2004. Gansert, who’s currently serving in the Nevada Senate, announced she would not see reelection last year.
