While the A-plot revolves around Severide, the B-story is Brett helping a domestic abuse survivor. It’s a quiet, emotional subplot that highlights Brett’s empathy and leadership. Her scenes provided the necessary emotional counterbalance to the episode’s high-stakes tension.
