After closing the book on NCIS: Los Angeles, Chris O’Donnell is stepping into his next major chapter — and it’s a big one. The longtime G. Callen star has been cast as the lead in ABC’s 9-1-1: Nashville, the latest spinoff from Ryan Murphy’s hit emergency-response franchise.
O’Donnell will headline the series as Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his son. A devoted husband and family man with a carefully guarded past, the character promises the kind of layered intensity O’Donnell has mastered over his 14-season run on NCIS: LA.
Set in Music City, the new series becomes the third installment in the 9-1-1 universe, joining the flagship on ABC following its network move in 2023. Production is reportedly aided by generous tax incentives, with Murphy teasing a potential fall 2025 debut — or a 2026 midseason launch if schedules shift.
