People have no idea how Kristen Stewart kept straight face after seeing reality of filming Twilight
While the finished product for a blockbuster movie is usually pretty good, film lovers enjoy seeing behind the scenes clips where things certainly don’t look as impressive.
Of course, movie techniques such as CGI mean that not every scene on screen is actually shot in real-life – something that is incredibly common in fantasy films such as Avatar and, in this case, the Twilight saga.
And for the Twilight movies, very little is known about how they were actually made.
Well, if you’re a fan of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, then you’re going to want to grab a strong drink and have a sit down.
The clip, which can be viewed on the DVD bonus of the Twilight movie, sees Taylor Lautner – who played Jacob the werewolf in the franchise – wearing a ‘non-reflective gray outfit’ as he acts out a wolf scene with leading star Kristen Stewart .
The visual effects team said such measures were taken so that they could ‘get the right kind of eye lines and motivation’ when Bella would be interacting with the wolf.
So, the editing process involved the visual effects team painting Lautner out and restoring the background. And it was then as simple as adding a wolf – and the iconic scene is brought to life.
But as for the real-life scene shot on set, Stewart is simply stroking her fellow cast member’s head in what is a ridiculous but also hilarious encounter.
And people on social media have no idea how Stewart kept a straight face during it.
“No idea how she was able to keep a straight face,” the Historic Vids account, which reposted the clip, said on X.
“I see now that she was actually perfect for the role. Who else could be stone faced while doing that,” a second added.
“That’s why they need the best actors for the job, most regular folk are cracking up,” a third remark.
This comes after Twilight fans claim they found the most ‘cringe’ line from the movies.
While there are many questionable lines from the classic movies, there is one that takes the crown according to fans on Reddit.
“Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?” the line is.
To be honest, the line by itself just sounds weird, so you can see why it has taken the ‘cringe’ title.
But one person’s response said it all: “It’s like it was briefly forgotten he was supposed to be ‘Native American’ and suddenly became ‘Hispanic’.” Yikes.
Anna Kendrick wanted to ‘murder everyone’ while filming Twilight and called it a ‘hostage situation’
Anna Kendrick has joked that she wanted to ‘murder everyone’ while filming Twilight, even calling it a ‘hostage situation’.
The Twilight movies follow the relationship between vampire Edward Cullen, and human – eventually turned vampire – Bella Swan.
The first book in the franchise was released in 2005. In total, the saga has sold more than 160 million copies worldwide and translated into 49 languages, as per USA Today.
Following the success of the novels, the first Twilight film was released in 2008 starring Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella.
However, Kendrick, who played Jessica Stanley, a friend of Bella’s, said that filming Twilight was nothing more than a ‘hostage situation’.
In a 2020 interview with Vanity Fair, the Pitch Perfect star said that shooting the movie in Oregon was ‘cold and miserable’ because of the weather but she bonded with the cast in a very specific way.
She recalled: “I just remember my converse being completely soaked through and feeling like, you know, this is a really great group of people and I’m sure that we will be friends in a different time, but I want to murder everyone.
“There was like something about it that was like, you know, like you go through like some traumatic event, like people who survive like a hostage situation. You’re kind of bonded for life.”
Kendrick also admitted that the role of Jessica came as a ‘shock’ to her after she thought she had a ‘blow-off’ audition.
She said: “I auditioned for Twilight because Katherine Harvick had seen me in a film at Sundance called Rocket Science.
“I just thought, ‘well, I’ll you know, do as well as I can so that the casting directors think of me for other stuff. I actually saw my friend Mae Whitman at that audition and we were both like, ‘What are we doing here?
“We’re obviously not going to be this like mean girl character’.”
The actor also spoke about filming the third and fourth installations of the Twilight franchise – New Moon and Breaking Dawn – Part 1.
Although her experience was much better, all thanks to the weather which wasn’t ‘quite as intense’.
Kendrick recalled how the shoot ended on a high note, saying: “I was in the fourth movie and it was just like a wedding scene where again, I’m like, ‘Mmm, these people are so weird’.
“Everybody else has been like giving their blood, sweat, and tears to the project for months. I show up at the end and I’m like, ‘Guys, we did it’s over’.”
