The Golden Bachelorette contestant Pascal Ibgui threw shade at Golden Bachelor in Paradise, but he’s still open to being the star of The Golden Bachelor season 2. Pascal, who’s now 70 years old, self-eliminated from The Golden Bachelorette season 1 during his Fantasy Suite date when he realized that he wasn’t in love with leading lady Joan Vassos. He’s since made some controversial comments, including calling Joan’s fiancé, Chock Chapple, a stalker but later apologizing and stating that the Golden Bachelor would have to lower the show’s age limit if he were the lead.
Pascal revealed that he “turned down” the opportunity to appear on Golden Bachelor in Paradise “for a couple of reasons.”
In an interview on the I Do, Part 2 podcast, Pascal revealed that he “turned down” the opportunity to appear on Golden Bachelor in Paradise (which will be part of Bachelor in Paradise season 10), “for a couple of reasons.” He said, “Number one, I just don’t think it’s a good fit for who I am as a person. I mean, I just don’t think me being on the beach with a bunch of senior citizens–which I am…I don’t want to criticize anybody because that’s not my personality.”
Pascal went on to say that when his daughter signed him up for The Golden Bachelorette, he watched The Golden Bachelor in order to get a feel for what the show was like. Pascal admitted that he has no interest in any of the Golden Bachelor women, but he might’ve considered joining Golden Bachelor in Paradise if they were bringing in new women.
Pascal added that he joined The Golden Bachelorette specifically to date Joan because “I don’t need my five minutes of fame. I don’t need the glories. I don’t need to be in TV. I live a beautiful life. So I said if it’s not that person, I’m not gonna do it.”
Pascal also shared that he’d be open to being the next Golden Bachelor lead, but he insulted his fellow Golden Bachelorette contestants in the process. He said, “I mean, if they were offering me the Golden Bachelor, that will be a different thing, because that’s more who I am as a person than being on the beach with a bunch of guys who I could care less about.”

What Golden Bachelor In Paradise Shade Means For Pascal’s Franchise Future
Pascal Is A Polarizing Figure
Pascal’s never been afraid to speak his mind, which has made him a polarizing Bachelor Nation figure. While some love his frankness, which they see as refreshing, others think Pascal’s inappropriate and rude at times. His comment about the Golden women and men being a bunch of senior citizens that he’s not interested in hanging out with on the beaches of Golden Bachelor in Paradise means that he’s not going to make an appearance on the show. It will most likely be met with backlash, which could cause the producers to think twice about casting him as the Golden Bachelor.
Our Take On Pascal Ibgui Hinting He’d Accept Golden Bachelor Lead
Pascal Isn’t Right For The Golden Bachelor
Although Pascal is charming, successful, intelligent, and handsome, I don’t think that he’s right for The Golden Bachelor. The fact that he’d want the age limit lowered defeats the whole purpose of the show. While he’s since clarified that he’s looking for someone who’s 55 to 65 years old, Gerry Turner’s season had seven women aged 70 or older out of the 25 contestants, which was beautiful to see. A 55-year-old woman is too young for The Golden Bachelor.
I think that Pascal’s time with the Bachelor franchise is probably over for good. He’s uninterested in the Golden Bachelor women, so he won’t go to Paradise, and he’s not the right fit for The Golden Bachelor. However, I really enjoyed watching him in Joan’s Golden Bachelorette season. Perhaps Pascal should star in his own reality TV series about his search for love in the real world. That could definitely be a hit.
