Original Twilight Star Reveals If He’d Return For Upcoming TV Reboot

A notable Twilight actor addresses whether they’d return for the upcoming TV reboot, fondly recalling their time as part of the movie franchise.

A notable Twilight actor answers whether they’d return for the upcoming TV reboot. In April 2023, it was announced that Twilight will be moving to the small screen. Although it’s unclear whether the project will be a remake of the popular Stephanie Meyer books or a spinoff, it is known that Walking Dead: World Beyond and Raised By Wolves writer Sinead Daly will work on the script. The show will reported be offered to potential networks and streaming services by the studio Lionsgate TV.

Speaking with Variety at a recent event, Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen) talked about whether he’d reprise the role for the upcoming TV show. The actor also discussed the announced Nurse Jackie revival, sharing that he’d be happy to return for both projects and that he’s happy to see them returning. Check out his response below:

“I’m a fan first and foremost. But if they call me I’ll be there. If not, I’ll be watching to be sure. I’m happy to see them coming back. I have a lot of love for both and a lot of love for the cast, filmmakers and producers. It’s like a family. ‘Twilight,’ for me, was six years and ‘Nurse Jackie’ was seven, so when you finish those characters, it’s really it’s hard to put them away and move on. But then potentially to have an opportunity to maybe play them again is really cool. If not, I’m happy to tune in and watch. I’ve had my cup runneth over.”

The Twilight TV Show Could Work Better As A Remake
From the reporting, it seems too early to know what shape the Twilight show will take, but it could potentially work better as a remake that finds a new avenue into telling the Bella, Edward, and Jacob story. If it were a spinoff that continues the movie franchise even loosely, there’s the risk of strong audience demand for Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner to reprise their roles. That would, in turn, overshadow the TV adaptation and give it less chance to stand on its own.

Facinelli and other Twilight alums could still make appearances in the TV show as new characters, nodding to the movies without necessarily having the burden of serving as continuations. The upcoming Cruel Intentions series took this approach, bringing back an actor from the 1999 film in a new role. The movie He’s All That did the same, bringing back Rachael Leigh Cook and Matthew Lillard in different roles than She’s All That.

Occasionally, it should be noted that big projects announced don’t always end up materializing for one reason or another. That could happen with Twilight’s TV adaptation. But considering the film franchise’s success, grossing $3.4 billion worldwide, there will likely be a big push to make this next phase of the saga resonates, whether it’s a redo or a continuation.
