Official Announcement Regarding the Passing of the Talented Actress Cote de Pablo md20

CBS continues growing its broadcast slate, renewing a slew of series and officially confirming the future of the NCIS franchise. The network had previously announced its renewal for Boston Blue, Sheriff County, FBI, Ghosts, and new series Einstein and Cupertino.

In a new press release by Paramount, it was announced that CBS has renewed 10 more shows for its 2026-2027 slate. The original NCIS will return for season 24, while NCIS: Origins has been renewed for season 3, and NCIS: Sydney was renewed for season 4. Other shows renewed by the network were Tracker, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Matlock, Elsbeth, Fire Country, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.

The renewal for the three NCIS shows comes after the cancellation of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, marking a notable shift in the procedural franchise’s direction. The Paramount+ spin-off ran for 10 episodes before being officially pulled off the air, signaling CBS’s renewed focus on its broadcast NCIS lineup rather than expanding the series further into streaming-exclusive territory.

Austin Stowell as young Gibbs in NCIS Origins NCIS: Origins

The original NCIS series has been airing since 2003 and continues to draw strong viewership as one of broadcast TV’s top dramas, having anchored Tuesday nights for years and remaining a key part of CBS’s primetime lineup. The series follows special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and currently stars Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Katrina Law, Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Rocky Carroll, and Gary Cole.

Meanwhile, NCIS: Origins, the prequel series following a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs early in his career before joining the main NCIS team, first premiered in October 2024, offering viewers a new perspective on NCIS by diving into the backstory of one of the franchise’s most iconic characters. Austin Stowell stars as a young Gibbs, alongside Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote.

NCIS: Sydney is the fifth series in the franchise and continues to expand the franchise’s global footprint. The Australia-set series pairs U.S. NCIS agents with the Australian Federal Police, offering a blend of international espionage, local crime fighting, and serialized character arcs that have resonated with viewers both down under and in the U.S. It stars Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes.

CBS’s continued investment in the NCIS franchise reflects the broader strategy that has kept the network competitive in an increasingly unstable television landscape. While some networks have scaled back long-running procedurals, CBS has doubled down. NCIS, in particular, has proven adaptable across formats and settings, allowing the network to balance legacy appeal with fresh entry points for new viewers.

For viewers, the news offers reassurance that the core NCIS universe will remain a fixture of CBS’s schedule, with potential crossovers and plots that will likely continue weaving between the different series. With the three NCIS shows airing Tuesday nights and the next day on Paramount+, viewers have multiple ways to engage with the franchise each week.
