“Young Sheldon” may have been centered around the life of a precocious boy genius, but anyone who tuned into the show would know it’s hard to deny that sometimes the amazing women in Sheldon’s life stole the show. From his devoted mother, Mary, to his witty twin sister Missy, and even his sassy Meemaw, the leading ladies of this show provide warmth, humor, and so much soul. These female characters are so loved that Meemaw and Missy are often the most commonly mentioned when fans discuss their absolute favorite characters on the show, alongside everyone’s favorite Georgie, of course.
And while viewers have gotten to know these characters inside and out for seven seasons, the actors behind them have each their own stories to tell, including their real-life partners. Some of these stars have long-term partners and even families of their own, while others keep their personal lives as private as they can. And some may not even be in a relationship at all, but are prouder than ever to embrace their identity, their independence, and the lives they’re building outside of their career in Hollywood. Whatever their paths look like, the real-life partners and stories of these actors behind the hit show are just as captivating as their on-screen characters.
Zoe Perry is all about keeping her love life low-key and private.
Playing the iconic Mary Cooper on “Young Sheldon,” Zoe Perry told Entertainment Weekly, “I definitely never imagined I’d be playing my mother at a younger age.” Of course, the casting couldn’t have been any more perfect. Not only does Perry bring warmth and wit as Sheldon’s mom, but she also has a strong resemblance to her mother, Laurie Metcalf, who originated the role on “The Big Bang Theory.”
While Perry’s life as Sheldon’s mom was on full display and she quickly became a fan favorite, the actor has always liked to keep her personal life on the quieter side. She wasn’t like most celebrities who make grand Instagram posts about their engagements. Instead, she casually revealed her engagement to producer Gab Taraboulsy during a Field Team 6 (a Democratic voter registration group) Award Show held over Zoom.
And it’s not just her engagement she kept under wraps. It’s rare even to find a photo of the couple who tied the knot in 2022 online. Then again, Perry isn’t active on social media, and her husband keeps his social media presence professional. Together, they’ve crafted a healthy partnership, one in which they don’t feel the need to be on full display at all times. What we can tell you is that through other people’s social media accounts, we found out the lovely couple adopted a dog together, had a beautiful wedding in Italy, and attended Comic Con 2025 together.
