Is it just us or does it look like Costner regrets leaving the iconic Western series?
Oh Yellowstone… All the drama surrounding the iconic Western series in the past year began with its lead star Kevin Costner having a falling-out with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and leaving the cast. Since then, Sheridan has spent a lot of time and resources to reroute the finale of his TV show and make it happen without Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, which must have been quite the hassle.
Seeing how Yellowstone starts shooting its finale next week, you’d guess that everything is done and dusted — but then, Kevin Costner gives an interview.
Costner Wants to Work with Sheridan Again
The former Yellowstone star recently sat down with EW to talk about his plans and the entire Taylor Sheridan situation. According to Kevin Costner, he and Sheridan haven’t talked since his quit from Yellowstone, including about their creative future — but he’s more than willing to work with the showrunner again, whatever it may be.
“If [Taylor] sees me in something that he wants to do, I’ll look at it just the way I did Yellowstone and maybe we will end up doing something together. He likes a lot of the things that I like, and the idea of us working together is not out of the question for me. The subjects he chooses are very interesting to me,” Costner admitted.
Will Kevin Costner Return to Yellowstone?
The Western star shared that he’d love to get back to Yellowstone; but just as much, he’d love to work with Sheridan again if his new projects could benefit from Costner’s presence. About Yellowstone in particular, he thinks it’s entirely up to Sheridan.
“I like a lot of [Taylor’s] stuff. Yellowstone stands as something that could continue… But that is a Taylor question. But other things that he’s doing I think are really, really good. He likes the same subjects that I do,” the actor shared.
Once again, seeing how Sheridan has already wasted a metric ton of time and money on creating the Costner-less finale for Yellowstone — and how the cameras are almost rolling already — there’s next to no chance that the showrunner will change his plans again just to welcome his rogue star back into the fold.
But hey, who knows with these folks, right?
