Not Just Mel and Jack. Creator of “Virgin River” Says We’ll Love Another Series Couple
The residents of Virgin River are increasingly eager to pair up with each other from season to season. The showrunner says that in season 3 we will no longer be rooting for just Mel and Jack. Spoilers for the entire second season!
“Virgin River” has not yet been ordered for season 3, but that does not stop the showrunner, Sue Tenney, from making plans for the next episodes. The cliffhangers from the season 2 finale will be resolved, we will continue to root for Jack and Mel, as well as the doctor and Hope. And in addition to them, a third couple will appear.
Virgin River — more Lizzie and Ricky in season 3
Or rather, it has already appeared: we are talking about Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), Connie’s crazy niece, and good boy Ricky (Grayson Gurnsey). Sue Tenney is thrilled with them, promising TVLine that there will be more of them in Season 3.
Tenney is of course referring to the fact that (spoiler alert for Episode 8!) neither of them have had sex before. And when they decide to go all in, it ends in a fight with Connie. That doesn’t mean we can expect them to break up, though. On the contrary, Ricky and Lizzie are set to become one of those couples we’ll want to root for.
“Ricky has a fantastic arc in the books that I’m also planning on doing. We touched on that a bit in Season 2, but we’ll definitely delve into that more in [potential] future seasons,” the show’s creator promises.
Sue Tenney is optimistic about the upcoming seasons. She has big plans for Mel and Jack, as well as the rest of the characters, whose arcs she’d like to wrap up more or less the way they do in Robyn Carr’s book series.
