Larracuente, recognized for his roles on 13 Reasons Why and The Good Doctor, steps into Chicago Fire at a time when Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television are reshaping the ensemble. With Season 14 in production on location in Chicago, the addition of Vasquez fills a space left by multiple exits while giving the creative team fresh ground for character dynamics.
Showrunner Andrea Newman has described the character as “charming,” with a family background in first response that will play a role in upcoming storylines. Importantly, Vasquez is written as confident in his abilities, which will create natural points of tension in the firehouse hierarchy.
According to early production notes and promotional material, Vasquez is positioned as a challenge to Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who continues to lead Truck 81. Viewers will also see him interact closely with Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), another relatively new presence at Firehouse 51. Both relationships are expected to shape the season’s dramatic arc.
Also joining the cast of Chicago Fire for Season 14 is Annabeth Gish who will appear in a recurring role as Annette Davis, the mayor’s chief of staff. Set to debut in the October 1 premiere, her character enters the series at a critical moment, tied to looming budget cuts within the fire department. Producers note that Davis will have a “very complicated” relationship with Battalion Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), adding a layer of political intrigue to the season and expanding the show’s scope beyond the walls of Firehouse 51.
Season 14 marks the exit of Michael Bradway, Daniel Kyri, and Jake Lockett as series regulars, two performers who helped define the tone of Firehouse 51 in recent years. Their departures open the door for new talent like Larracuente to leave his mark. Cast changes can offer an opportunity to refresh the storytelling and help maintain the show’s momentum as it heads into its 14th year of production in Chicago.
There are three remaining original Chicago Fire cast members, Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide), David Eigenberg (Christopher Herrmann), and Christian Stolte (Randy “Mouch” McHolland).
Regularly seen filming in recognizable neighborhoods, Chicago Fire continues to anchor Chicago’s production landscape as the city’s most visible showcase on network television.
