New Face Joins the Reagan Family in Boston Blue Spinoff Shake-Up

The Blue Bloods universe is evolving and it’s bringing some unexpected changes. In CBS’s upcoming spinoff series Boston Blue, the role of Sean Reagan, son of Donnie Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan, will be recast. Andrew Terraciano, who portrayed Sean for 14 seasons of Blue Bloods, will not return. Instead, actor Mika Amonsen will step into the role, marking a new chapter for the youngest Reagan.

In Boston Blue, Sean follows in his family’s law enforcement footsteps but carves his own path by joining the Boston Police Department as a patrolman. He relocates to Beantown with his father, Danny Reagan, who transitions from his longtime role as a detective in the NYPD to his new life in Boston. Danny is now partnered with Detective Lena Silver, portrayed by Sonequa Martin-Green.

According to CBS, the move allows the father-son duo to reconnect on a deeper level. “Sean relocated to Boston to start a new chapter as a Boston PD patrolman,” the network stated. “He committed himself to continuing his family’s legacy but wanted to do so on his own terms, outside of New York. Danny’s decision to move gives them a chance to bond in new ways.”

Andrew Terraciano, now 22, appeared in all but one of the original series’ 293 episodes. He and his real-life brother Tony Terraciano played siblings Sean and Jack Reagan, though Tony left the show in Season 9 to pursue a medical career.
