A new chief is coming to town and thanks to newly released photos we officially have our first look at Chicago Fire’s newest addition!
With filming underway on Chicago Fire season 13, we knew it was only a matter of time before behind-the-scenes photos made their way online giving us our first look at Dermot Mulroney as Chief Dom Pascal. While it might have taken a bit longer than we expected for those first-look photos to arrive, we now have our first look at the man coming to 51 to replace Chief Boden.
In the first of two new photos posted by the official account for Chicago’s Franklin Park Fire Department, the on-duty members of the Franklin Park Fire Department are all smiles as they pose with Mulroney and returning cast members Daniel Kyri (Ritter), Miranda Rae Mayo (Kidd), Randy Flagler (Capp), Hanako Greensmith (Violet), Jake Lockett (Carver), and Joe Minoso (Cruz). However, it’s the second of the two photos that offer up our best first look at Mulroney’s Chief Pascal as he poses with Franklin Park Fire Department Chief Stewart.
The photo gives us our first chance to see Mulroney donning the signature uniform donned by CFD chiefs and we have to say he definitely looks the part!
While we’re still not sure how we feel about Herrmann being passed over for the role of chief after it was hinted in the season 12 finale that he would succeed Boden, we are excited to see what Mulroney’s Chief Pascal brings to the table.
Given Chief Pascal is described as being “cheerful and good under pressure” with a personality that is just as equally sunny as Miami, where he spent the last decade, we’re hoping he’ll pick up where Boden left off in giving 51 a leader who we can root for and knows always has the best interest of the team in mind.
Where you’ve seen Dermot Mulroney prior to Chicago Fire
Dermot Mulroney might be the newest addition to the cast of Chicago Fire, but odds are you’ve likely seen him in one of his many iconic roles over the years as Mulroney is no stranger to television — though odds are you’ve probably seen him in of your favorite movies as he has quite a long filmography.
Mulroney’s first big break came via the 1988 western Young Guns in which he starred alongside Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Charlie Sheen. In the decades since his breakout role, he’s appeared in dozens of films including Angels in the Outfield, My Best Friend’s Wedding, About Schmidt, The Wedding Date, The Family Stone, Dante’s Inferno, Burn After Reading, The Grey, Jobs, August: Osage County, Dirty Grandpa, Scream VI, and Anyone But You.
While Mulroney might be best known for his movie roles, he’s no stranger to television having appeared in countless series over the years. He played Rachel’s temporary replacement at Polo Ralph Lauren on Friends; Sean Pierce the former owner of Patsy’s Pies and ex-fiancé of Fiona on Shameless; and most recently played President Ritson in Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
His other TV credits include roles in Hanna, Prodigal Son, The Purge, Arrested Development, American Horror Story, American Dad, Pure Genius, and The Batman.
He also is no stranger to firefighter dramas having previously appeared in a handful of episodes of ABC’s Station 19, playing Greg Tanner, the father of Ryan Tanner, Andy’s childhood best friend and ex-boyfriend.
