Just days after filming concluded on Season 7, Netflix has officially greenlit an eighth season of Virgin River.
The long-running romantic drama, starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, continues to dominate Netflix’s lineup of comfort-driven series. With the renewal, the show now surpasses other long-running titles like Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.
Part of the series’ success comes from its accessible storytelling. Set in a picturesque small town, Virgin River focuses on relationships, family, and second chances rather than high-budget spectacle.
The show also benefits from efficient production. Most filming takes place in Vancouver, though Season 7 reportedly included a brief Mexico shoot, marking the first time the series filmed outside Canada.
As anticipation builds for the next chapter, Netflix’s continued investment suggests the residents of Virgin River won’t be leaving viewers’ screens anytime soon.
