NCIS’ Wilmer Valderrama’s touching note shows true colors as hiatus continues

With the hit CBS drama on a short break before the next episode drops on April 14 – fans have reacted favorably to Wilmer Valderrama’s latest comments. Meanwhile, CBS has canceled a number of shows in 2025.

Now in its 22nd season since debuting in 2003, the show has gained a large following, and with no episode showing lately – fans have been focusing on content around the show, while Michael Weatherly has committed to a new spin-off project.

This includes commentary about the show and its fans by its stars, including Valderrama. He gave a glimpse behind the NCIS curtain – which also includes the popular spin-off, NCIS: Origins – by sharing staggering statistics about the legacy NCIS continues to bring to the television world.

The actor posted an image on his Instagram account on April 2 which highlighted a statistic from a Variety February 2025 article.

According to the Variety article, NCIS averaged 10.4m viewers every week. Valderrama acknowledged the fan’s part in the high audience numbers and said he was grateful to them for making it a powerhouse show.

In the caption of the photograph he addressed the fan base of NCIS.

“Season 22 has 10.4 million reasons to say THANK YOU,” he emotionally wrote in the caption. “Your support means everything. #NCIS returns April 14 with a brand-new episode on @cbstv!”

His message instantly resonated with viewers of the show and responded with well wishes – according to Good Housekeeping.

” Congratulations you guys, well earned!!” one person wrote in the comments. “I’m watching right now as we speak, catching up on episodes. After all these years, it is still one of my favorite shows.”

Another declared. “When you make a great show, it’s easy to be one in 10.4 million!” a different follower added.

It is clear that people love NCIS and the stars of the show appreciate the fan support they receive. NCIS was renewed for season 23 earlier this year which means fans get to continue seeing storylines they love.

An official press release announced the new episode would be titled “Killer Instinct” and will see the popular team attempt to capture a hitman who ordered the assassination of a Navy chief.
